About the role

To provide facilities engineering support of client Research Labs & technical support to maintenance shop at the Indianapolis Corporate Center. The Facility Engineer interacts with all levels of management, crafts, and scientific personnel.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate & communicate building system outages for preventative maintenance
  • Complete annual capital needs assessment based on knowledge of building systems
  • Complete annual Asset Count
  • Provide oversight of both building equipment & preventative maintenance tasks ensuring reliability
  • Participate in all client HSE objectives as directed
  • Ownership of CAD drawings for buildings
  • Coordinate small scale projects with LRL scientists as requested
  • Benchmark & present new facilities technology as feasible for consideration
  • Attend Capital Project meetings related to your buildings and provide technical guidance
  • Buildings Systems include, but not limited to: Air handlers & exhaust fans, Fume & bio hoods, Safety showers & eye washes, Chilled beams, Vacuum systems, Steam PRV's, Potable water pumps, Heating hot water, Condensate recovery systems, Electrical sub-stations, Sanitary & storm sewers, Fire protection, and General infrastructure (exterior included).

What you'll need

  • Bachelors or equivalent experience in Engineering (mechanical or electrical preferred) from an ABET accredited university and a minimum of three years of experience in facilities management.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of laboratory building systems, maintenance, and utilities. Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, clients, and management.
  • Must have good people skills to interact and communicate effectively to internal, external customers, share knowledge with craftsmen and peers including process, building and design engineers, and scheduler planner.
  • This position also requires knowledge and capability to perform daily work activities with CMMS such as GMARS work order data base system, building management software such as Metasys, MS Outlook(email), calendar and network data base systems including word document process and spread sheet activities.
