About the role
As a Tax Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work with our internal tax team and provide support to broader finance and other teams at Cars Commerce in the United States and Canada. In this role, you will be involved in various aspects of the tax function, including tax compliance and provision matters, cash tax forecasting, tax research, audit defense, corporate acquisitions and special projects, and various business initiatives and process improvements. You will apply and continue developing your knowledge of tax concepts and leverage your practical experience to solve tasks in a progressive complexity, execute on and contribute to improving our processes, and plan and complete certain projects on your own.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provision calculations using OneSource Tax Provision, as well as, related SEC disclosure and internal reporting packages
- Gather and analyze information required for and contribute to preparation of federal, state, provincial, and local corporate income, franchise, and sales and use tax returns and workpapers
- Assist in preparation of periodic tax estimated payments, including extension filings
- Contribute to substantiation of tax accounts, including tax payable balances and deferred tax inventory
- Keep a log of tax related correspondence and notices, draft responses to information requests, and assist in resolution of various federal, state, provincial, and local tax audits
- Coordinate and assist in addressing various information requests from internal and external auditors
- Support SOX compliance, including gathering documentation and assisting in tax controls testing
- Contribute to assessment of legislative changes, tax research, developing and executing tax planning strategies, and analyzing and implementing transfer pricing methodologies
- Assist in tax process automation and improvement projects, including streamlining workpapers and processes
- Coordinate with and provide tax support to finance and other teams in the United States and Canada
This is what you will need to succeed in your role:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics required. CPA, IRS EA, Master's degree in Taxation preferred
- 3+ years of experience with a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department primarily dedicated to preparing and/or reviewing ASC 740 income tax provisions
- Experience of working through and contributing to research and solving tax and tax accounting technical matters of medium to high complexity
- Experience in United States domestic and foreign corporate tax compliance and resolving tax audits
- Strong work ethic, ability to work independently with attention to detail and pride in their deliverable
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate thoughts clearly and interact with all stakeholders, both internal and external effectively
- Ability to collaborate and work on a team, multi-task and prioritize among assignments in situations with tight deadlines
- Experience using tax provisioning software is required. Proficiency in OneSource Tax Provision is preferred
