Role overview
As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Consumer Awareness team, you'll empower consumers on their car shopping journey by introducing them to CarGurus' comprehensive platform, the most visited automotive platform in the U.S. As part of this fast-paced team, you'll build and scale best-in-class customer-centric and innovative components and pages that get 39M visitors each month. You'll enhance user engagement, satisfaction, and overall consumer experience based on data, giving people the power to reach their destination.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, data analysts, and other engineers across the organization to understand and solve consumer problems
- Make continuous improvements to site performance and user experience
- Contribute to research and architectural design discussions on building best-in-class solutions to customer challenges
- Write clean, well-tested, and efficient code
- Be deeply engaged in the full software development lifecycle- discovery, architectural design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iterating
What you'll bring
- 5+ years of frontend engineering experience
- Proven expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript (ES2024), React, HTML, CSS - ideally in fast-paced environments
- Deep understanding of modern frontend design patterns and best practices, including frontend accessibility, performance, Core Web Vitals, observability, testing, tooling, and working with component libraries such as Radix UI and Tailwind UI
- Experience with Remix, Next.js, Express, or Node.js a plus
- Great communicator and collaborator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated, provides and receives feedback well, and asks good questions
