Job Purpose and Impact
The Sensory & Consumer Sciences Associate Director will apply broad and in depth sensory and leadership knowledge to oversee the North American Food sensory program, define and execute overall sensory and consumer science strategy and be a member of global committees focused on our global sensory & consumer sciences program. In this role, you will develop and execute a vision, build and lead a world class team, and lead strategic, complex and global sensory projects. You will also develop and maintain best in class capabilities for a regional sensory team.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and execute a vision for the NA Food Sensory & Consumer Sciences program, and contribute as a key regional member to our global program.
- Partner to build global sensory programs and influence the program at senior business levels.
- Build and lead a world class North American team.
- Lead the development of the annual department budget using information from key stakeholders and sources.
- Focus on driving efficiency as well as new sensory capability development, including new sensory tools and panels to set up.
- Receive regular reports on sensory research and use the data presented by the team to adapt and improve on global sensory goals.
- Leverage knowledge of sensory program progress on a complex and multi-dimensional global level to advance the department's initiatives and goals.
- Act as a scientific advisor for new sensory or consumer testing methods and represent the company at conferences or other professional gatherings.
- Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum of six years of related work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree or other post-secondary degree
- Confirmed skills in providing sensory advice to customers, internal stakeholders and third-party testing agencies
- Demonstrated success with change management and ambiguous situations in matrixed organizations
- Experience with developing a vision and setting direction across a matrixed organization.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in food industry
- Three or more years of supervisory experience

The expected salary for this position is $180,000 - $200,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
