As Senior Manager of Risk Management , you will play a critical role in ensuring key governance activities are executed timely and with a keen eye towards quality outcomes. Specifically this role is responsible for the Enterprise Regulatory Change Management process. You will work closely with the Government & Policy Affairs (GPAG), Legal, Compliance and Business areas to implement new or updates to laws, regulations or rules. You will collaborate with partners to identify process enhancements, to create efficiencies, monitor and maintain program methodology. You will facilitate key forums that support the Regulatory Change process and liaise with compliance and stakeholders caring for the governance and application of compliance methodologies within the Compliance Management Program (CMP). You will drive visible and high priority Risk and Compliance owned projects. You will use creativity and innovation to drive problem resolution and build approaches & tools that meet the needs of all constituents.

General Responsibilities:

  • Execute monitoring and trend analysis exercises on key areas within the CMP to identify risks or opportunities.
  • Perform and analyze data quality exercises to ensure outcomes are consistent with expectations outlined within the CMP.
  • Develop or evaluate existing process level documentation to ensure documentation is maintained consistent with well-managed expectations.
  • Keep current on compliance, risk management, and regulatory trends, including best practices and guidelines issued by applicable regulatory bodies and the industry, and identify emerging regulatory risks.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with ERM and other risk category stewards to ensure alignment and connectivity of respective programs.
  • Contribute to Compliance Monthly Business Review and other reporting to senior management and the Board.
  • Proactively identify process gaps or risks, as well as potential enhancements
  • Implement/assist in implementing changes to the GRC, as appropriate.
  • Drive process improvement by identifying lessons learned and potential corrective action plans.
  • Support additional governance activities, regulatory exam and audit requests, and ad hoc requests as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in an operations or compliance role within Financial Services, Technology, Consulting, Legal or Audit
  • At least 3 years of Project, Process or Risk Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Degree
  • Project Management (PMP), Six Sigma, Certified Data Analytics (CAP), or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
  • Proven ability to communicate, collaborate, and manage relationships with stakeholders at various levels in a highly matrixed organization

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Risk Manager

Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr. Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
