Sr. Manager, Project Management

The Credit and Data Community and Events team is responsible for a wide range of community driven events that aim to advance our culture and talent in some of the communities most core to what we do at Capital One (our Credit, Modeling and Data communities). We're seeking to hire a strategic leader for the team that helps to deliver on several of the marquis community events at Capital One. You will oversee a small team of project managers who own the execution of 3 of our largest internal conferences at Capital One [Credit Summit, Data Week and MAC - the modeling and analytics conference]. In this role you'll need to partner with key stakeholders from across the enterprise to understand the context of the work and cultural change that we're hoping to advance to help the team deliver on that vision end to end. You will partner with various stakeholders to set a strategic theme and help ensure the delivery of that across the entirety of the activation. You will help the direct team with managing events and making important delivery decisions.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with key stakeholders on setting the strategic vision and theme for these events
  • Translate important theme and key talent messages into guiding selection of content and overall direction for the associate experience at the event
  • Oversee a team that has responsibility of managing all aspects of delivery of key events including budgets, scheduling, attendee experience and agenda
  • Draw connections between these 3 major events including audience and messaging and ensure best practices are being delivered across
  • Identify opportunities for other events or opportunities to engage these communities to further push on the talent agenda for their leaders

You'll need to wear many hats including:

  • Project Leader: You're detail- and process-oriented and adeptly manage several projects and initiatives at once with supportive direction. You have relentlessly high standards and attention to the smallest details with the ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Problem-solver: You understand intent and goals for a project, propose plans to meet those needs, and autonomously pursue options to deliver results in a well-managed manner. You bring in data and metrics to ensure we're working the needle and identifying insights.
  • Event extraordinaire: You know how to support complex events with a sharp eye on details throughout the entire process. You go above and beyond to exceed associate expectations and deliver best-in-class experiences.
  • Juggler: You don't get overwhelmed or flustered easily. You seek guidance to reprioritize as needed to adjust with changing business needs, and take action with urgency as appropriate.
  • Valued partner: You have a proven track record of collaborative work relationships and you thrive in a matrixed environment.
  • Team player: You are highly motivated and willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done, even in situations where the work is outside of the scope of your respective role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 3 years of experience in Project Management or Event Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation
  • 2+ or more years of experience negotiating and executing contracts for associate events
  • 4+ years of experience supporting senior leadership
  • 4+ years of experience in Human Resources, associate experience, or associate engagement roles
