About The Role:

Capital One is looking for a strategic, results-driven communications leader to join a talented group of communicators on our Corporate Communications team.

Working for one of the world's most recognized brands provides opportunities to learn and grow while creating industry-leading communications campaigns. As a key member of the Corporate Communications team, you will lead multiple projects while building trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, inclusive of national business media and executive leaders, all while operating in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with internal partners and agencies to develop and implement thoughtful, well-managed and high-impact integrated programming that drives awareness and shifts perception among key target audiences.

This position requires exceptional leadership, judgment, teamwork, and results focus. You will bring to this role previous experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder communications initiatives informed by data analysis with measurable results. An open mind and a passion for finding creative new ways to solve problems and deliver results are essential to the success of this role. Adaptability and a sense of humor will also serve you well.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a Strategic Counselor and Lead Integrator

  • Provide communications-related counsel to a range of Business, Marketing, and Brand partners, including executives and peers
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills
  • A sophisticated understanding of and experience working with media
  • Ability to articulate the nuances of Capital One's products and services across multiple audiences (inclusive of customers, clients, media and other external stakeholders)
  • Ability to navigate key industry issues and news drivers that inform our approach to strategic planning and day-to-day proactive and reactive execution
  • Proactively collaborate with partners across the team and larger organization with the goal of driving creative, streamlined and connected programming
  • Use judgment to navigate complex situations, ultimately contributing to reputation building

Lead with a research/data-driven storytelling mindset, and measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive Impact

  • Identify white space/s to lead and deliver data and insights initiatives as a strategy to support storytelling, including thought leadership
  • Lead delivery of all work through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how communications is driving business outcomes, brand awareness and engagement

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in financial services communications, a communications role in an agency environment working with financial services clients, or any combination of the two

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience working in communications for a national brand or financial services company
  • At least 8 years of media relations experience, reputation or crisis management PR experience, and content strategy and development.
  • Experience working within a Fortune 500 company
