As Senior Associate, Chief of Staff you will join the CoS Team to set & implement the communication, culture and talent strategies for the Chief Marketing Officer of Business Cards and Payments (BC&P).This work is high-visibility and high-impact, reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, supporting our CMO and her leadership team. In addition to leading a sizable and critical body of work, you will also have an opportunity to directly observe & learn from senior leaders in the group.
We are looking for a passionate and seasoned associate who loves diving into ambiguous and challenging problems. You will need to be highly organized and emotionally intelligent to work with our leadership team to drive strategic planning efforts, keep a pulse on team health, morale and engagement, and ensure key priorities are successfully executed. The ideal candidate can connect the dots between good process and great results, effectively influence others to achieve organizational goals, and facilitate a vocal leadership team toward purposeful outcomes. Candidates should be self-motivated, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, executive presence, and a passion for solving complex problems.
The skills you bring:
- Proven ability to build strong, trusted relationships and operate in an influential manner with executives to assist in driving the strategic agenda
- Highly collaborative; has excellent communication skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders to manage, inform and influence outcomes. The stakeholder ecosystem is broad and includes Finance, Human Resources, Product, Risk, Operations, and Field
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with an understanding of, and appreciation for, how marketing operates
- An energetic, creative and fun-loving personality that fosters an environment built upon trust, collaboration, and belonging
- Highly-motivated, self-starter who can work autonomously and can independently take initiative
- Proven ability to lead moderate sized cross functional teams to drive complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction
- Proven experience in operating with discretion when handling highly sensitive issues
What you'll own:
- Communications strategy: set & execute an intentional, clear and compelling communication strategy for the CMO within Marketing & Field Analytics, across BC&P, and to senior leaders; this includes a variety of always-on communications (e.g., newsletters, launch updates) as well as ad-hoc (e.g., executive updates)
- Talent & Upskilling: help attract and grow its talent by continuing to develop programing for associate onboarding, skill development (e.g., Magnet University), performance management, etc.
- Culture: continue evolution of Magnet culture, creating a fun, inclusive team environment that people want to join and stay. Directing all programming (e.g., Town Halls, Offisites), events (e.g., EOY event), budgeting, and ongoing assessment (e.g., AAS analysis)
- Strategy support: Partner closely with the CoS and LT to drive the forward leaning direction for the team and create a cross functional view of the destination. Facilitate the creation of presentations that articulate the strategy to key internal and external stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or military experience
- At least 2 years of experience in marketing, business analysis or strategy
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- 3+ years of experience in a Marketing role
- 2+ years of experience leading horizontal projects in a large, complex and in matrixed organization

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $99,500 - $113,600 for Sr. Project Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
