As a Senior Manager, Project Management at Capital One, you will lead teams through high priority projects and programs for the company. You will collaborate with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line. You will lead important and exciting projects and programs from day one, working alongside key stakeholders across the company. Day-to-day, as a Senior Manager, Project Management, you'll serve as the leader of results, communications and oversight for business-critical programs having moderate to high complexity. From problem solving across departments and levels to facilitating meetings and driving alignment on plans, you'll have a wide range of duties to keep progress moving forward. The ideal candidate can deliver in a challenging and fast-paced environment. Additionally, the candidate needs to be skilled in managing stakeholder and customer expectations, while concurrently maintaining delivery momentum. The role requires a well-rounded individual who is comfortable adjusting their approach to meet unique needs across multiple stakeholder groups within a complex organization. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, who has a desire to make a positive impact and do great things. The preferred candidate will have experience working in Compliance and/or Risk Management organizations within a major financial company with a solid understanding of regulatory requirement management and applicability, controls, and 1st and 2nd line responsibilities and have experience in Data Management and Governance.

Responsibilities of a Senior Manager, Project Management consist of:

  • Be a proven People leader who is passionate about developing and growing a strong performing team with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Autonomously leading large-scale projects and programs having moderate to high levels of complexity by providing direction to project teams, peers, and stakeholders to drive results.
  • Manage the High Priority Usage scope of work to meet policy requirements and build on current processes and controls to ensure Retail Bank is aligned with Producer and Consumer expectations
  • Planning, designing, managing and executing project plans to ensure delivery. This includes management of scope definition, requirement expectations, planning, communications and implementation
  • Have the drive for working empathetically with internal customers to create innovative solutions and be a quick learner who effectively balances competing priorities and project risk
  • Ensuring projects are being delivered on time and on budget within a challenging environment while simultaneously managing risk through appropriate documentation
  • Leveraging problem solving, communication and influencing skills to ensure project results deliver on intent and stakeholder expectations are well managed
  • Partnering cross-functionally with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery

The selected candidate will:

  • Exhibit and demonstrate a track record of project and program management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage tasks and related expectations
  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive project / program efforts
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing delivery teams through people leadership
  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes
  • Have demonstrated experience in various project management / problem solving methodology (waterfall, agile, design thinking, etc.)
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and/or programs simultaneously

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 1 year of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters / MBA Degree
  • At least 8 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2 Years of People Management experience
  • Compliance or Risk Management experience
  • PMP certification
  • Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
