Capital One is looking for a Senior Manager, Compensation to join our Total Rewards team. We are looking for proven leadership candidates who are detailed, results-oriented and flexible with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment. The primary focus of this role is design and governance of sales incentive plans. The ideal candidate for this role should exhibit strong communication, influencing, and problem solving skills towards all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and consult on sales incentive plan design and governance for assigned clients, adhering to best practices and appropriately balancing risk
- Design, develop and document incentive plan programs, ensuring alignment to business intent, program clarity for participants, and details to support award delivery
- Work with internal partners and stakeholders (e.g. Compensation, Human Resources, Risk Management, Business Clients, etc.) on a regular basis, providing expert compensation guidance and recommendations; consult and partner with sales plan administration team
- Evaluate effectiveness and competitiveness of existing incentive plans and model potential impact of alternatives
- Draft plans, educational materials, and communications to provide associates, managers, and HR partners with timely and accurate incentive plan information
- Audit and analyze internal compensation practices and policies in relation to relevant regulations. Develop recommendations for corrective actions, as needed. Provide compliance consultation to HR and business clients
- Partner to develop and establish incentive governance standards, processes, and training to ensure well governed programs and oversight
- Lead strategic compensation projects, key initiatives or processes horizontally across client groups, as assigned
- Exhibit thoughtful leadership within the team and compensation community
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or military experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Compensation or at least 5 years of experience in sales plan design
- At least 5 years of experience in client management or consulting
- At least 3 years of experience with Excel and developing data-based stories in Powerpoint or Slides
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Human Resources
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
- 7+ years of experience in Compensation or 7+ years of experience in Finance or 7+ years of experience in Analytics, or a combination
- 5+ years of experience in client facing or consulting roles
- 5+ years of experience building compensation models and conducting pay analysis
- 2+ years of experience in the design, development and documentation of sales incentive plans
- 1+ year of experience with Workday
- Advanced excel skills (e.g., VBA, macros, array functions)
- Knowledge of human resources and compensation including knowledge of relevant Federal, State, Local laws/regulations relating to compensation
- Experience with benchmarking tools (MarketPay) or reporting tools (Tableau, Business Objects)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $172,900 - $197,300 for Sr. Mgr., Compensation
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
