This role will support the strategy, operations, and culture that power our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization in the Finance Line of Business (LOB) provides financial oversight for all Capital One LOBs and the enterprise as a whole. FP&A leaders work closely with their respective business partners to manage financials for their organizations, partnering on key projects, making suggestions on tradeoffs, and managing the budget. Everything from investor communications, management reporting, investment, and long-term financial goals is informed by our corporate and LOB forecasts and scenarios. FP&A is led by three Executive CFOs who focus on Corporate Planning, Enterprise Services & Tech Finance, Retail and Commercial Bank Finance, Card Finance, and Financial Services.

This associate will support core Chief of Staff functions and will report to the lead Chief of Staff for FP&A. This role represents a unique opportunity to help build a world class culture across approximately 350 FP&A associates, deeply investing in events, business priorities, and other special projects. The successful candidate will be open to contributing to a wide array of newly forming workstreams and excited to bring new ideas to the table.

The ideal candidate will be a general athlete who thrives in a fast-paced environment, be skilled in leveraging data to extract insights and tell a story, a blend of analytical, project management and communication skills, and have strong verbal and written executive communication capabilities. This position requires a strong forward-thinking lean and a drive to deliver high-quality work while juggling competing priorities in an evolving landscape.

The role will involve:

  • Providing key support to a VP+ population in a well-managed and intentional way
  • Building relationships and collaborating with cross-functional key partners (Finance CoS community, Finance for Finance, HR Team, Talent Acquisition) to understand processes and drive results.
  • Serving as a key thought partner to the lead CoS and a project manager on emerging strategic initiatives across our portfolio (e.g., Culture, DIB, Prioritization, the Future of FP&A)
  • Managing and iterating on processes, programs, and routines while investigating and making recommendations and decisions in gray space
  • Support the sourcing of topics, building of agendas and activities for leader routines
  • Initiating program/process improvements to mitigate risks and optimize efficiencies
  • Supporting programs and routines that ensure connectivity and build upon the One FP&A cultural mindset including our VP+ forums, leadership investments, and Town Halls, as well as other culture building initiatives
  • Connecting dots and influencing across multiple teams and working groups without direct authority, while collaborating to identify solutions that can achieve shared results
  • Leading and developing change management plans in support of organizational changes, as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of work experience in Project Management OR Process Management OR on a Chief of Staff team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to influence leaders, think creatively, participate fully and work collaboratively to develop and execute product strategies, solutions and experiences
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and ability to consult on problems by extracting insights
  • Track record of complex project management, a bias to action and extraordinary attention to detail
  • 1+ year of data analysis experience conducting analyses to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy
  • Exceptional consulting skills, with demonstrated self-confidence and an ability to adapt content and conversations to meet the needs of the audience
  • Impeccable judgment and ability to balance the needs of the organization, leaders and associates
  • Passion for learning with a growth mindset
  • Discretion in handling highly sensitive issues
