As a Senior Accounting Specialist you will have dynamic responsibilities associated with Capital One's month-end closing and financial reporting processes, helping to ensure a timely and accurate month-end close and financial reporting for our growth oriented organization. You will assist in the compilation of reports and analysis to support management review of financial results. You will also work with an outstanding team to identify issues and collaborate on recommended solutions. You will have the opportunity to be involved in progressive project work with exposure to senior management and various departments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations, including documentation and presentation of results to management and senior leadership.
- Ensure accounting practices and documentation procedures are performed in accordance with accounting and governance policies and procedures.
- Perform monthly analysis and reporting of financial performance, including preparation of monthly commentary for stakeholders and management within necessary deadlines.
- Respond to requests from other departments and perform research.
- Participate in key corporate projects such as system upgrades, enhancements, or process improvements.
- Provide ad hoc analysis to management.
- Assist with leading the team by providing regular feedback to associates to outline responsibilities, strengths, and development areas.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or military experience
- At least 1 year of accounting, finance, or audit experience
- At least 1 year of experience in banking or reconciliation
- At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounting, finance, or audit experience
- 2+ years of experience in banking or reconciliation
- 1+ year of project management experience
- 1+ years of experience with PeopleSoft general ledger
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
