Senior Accounting Associate, Regulatory Reporting
Capital One has an exciting opportunity within the Regulatory Reporting team. We are looking for someone with strong analytical, collaboration, and communication competencies with the ability to multitask and prioritize diverse and time-sensitive tasks. This role will lead the preparation, analysis, and reporting by ensuring accurate and timely data sourcing and analysis of financial information submitted to U.S. regulators.
The Senior Associate role will gain a deep understanding of Capital One's lines of business, transactions, and products including regulatory reporting requirements. As regulatory reporting consumes data from across the enterprise, this role is exposed to multiple partners, systems, and processes leveraged to source data for reporting across multiple filings. Furthermore, this role will be surrounded by intellectually curious professionals every day, with the shared goal of creating a seamless, well managed, and controlled regulatory reporting process.

Responsibilities of the role:
- Lead the preparation and review of schedules (Including but not limited to: Investments, Derivatives, Loans, and Deposits) produced for the Call Report (FFIEC 031), FR Y-9C, FR Y-9LP, FR Y-15, and other significant regulatory filings
- Enable cross pollination of knowledge and schedules across the entirety of the team.
- Engage in strategic initiatives and automation efforts including detailed analysis and testing related to new products, business transactions, and changes in regulatory reporting requirements
- Support the development and delivery of presentations and detailed analytical packages supporting reporting, governance, and process execution to Senior Leadership
- Drive issue resolution, pursue education opportunities, and deliver automation wins through partnerships with data providers, technology, and downstream consumers; including the lines of business, Treasury, SEC reporting, and accounting teams
- Engage with line of business, risk, audit, accounting and technology partners
- Support responses to management, 2nd/3rd lines of defense, risk management, and regulator inquiries regarding reporting, variances, and process controls
- Ensure that processes, controls, and change initiatives are well managed, governed, and demonstrable to regulatory agencies and internal lines of defense
- Stay current with evolving industry and regulatory changes
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree or military experience
- At least 1 year of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit or finance, or a combination
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, or finance, or a combination
