Capital One Commercial Client Operations (CCO) is looking for candidates to support the growing Commercial Loan Operations Closing Team. The team supports day-to-day operations of loans pertaining to unique or niche industries that require special handling and industry knowledge. The primary function is loan closing and funding within the various lines of business that comprises Middle Market, Healthcare, and Technology Media and Telecom. The role includes analytical components (i.e. interpreting credit agreements) related to various loan/fee accruals, calculations as well as ongoing/ad-hoc reconciliation and remediation, and driving the closing process for commercial loan products, which include new loans, modifications and extensions.

The Principal Syndication Loan Closing Team Lead will plan and drive the closing process for commercial loan products, including managing interactions and communications with all stakeholders (External Counsel, RM, UW, Client)

The Principal Associate will drive the syndicated loan closing process in support of the underwriter, capital markets and the syndicate bank group, including the review of credit approvals, legal documentation, due diligence, & funding & booking mechanics. The ability to learn quickly and to adapt to change are important skills in this role. Additionally, important are effective communication skills, product knowledge & the ability to clearly convey complex concepts and issues in a concise way.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 5 Senior Associate Loan Closers
  • Provide coaching and feedback to associate to develop and promote continuous growth in their role
  • Maintain closing pipeline report and provide status updates to management on performance of closing team
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and meet demands of multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to influence a variety of individuals in order to accomplish objectives
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to details
  • Review new opportunities with RM and Underwriter to identify any aspects of deal that have adverse impacts on closing, booking, and/or funding processes
  • Work with RM and Underwriter on selection and engagement of external counsel
  • Coordinate, organizes and verifies documentation received from external counsel and all other parties, ensuring documents are complete and accurately represent the approved transaction
  • Ensure compliance with all loan requirements, commitment and approval conditions, policies and procedures using prudent closing practices and proper documentation
  • Manage the schedule for loan closing, including ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed for a timely and effective closing
  • Work with all parties to resolve issues that arise during the closing process
  • Provide authorization for closing to occur as well as approval of booking and funding instructions
  • Maintain close communication with all parties to ensure proper and timely settlement
  • Ensure that all documentation packages are compiled accurately and routed in a timely manner

People Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Performance Management, Talent Management, team meetings, etc.
  • Stakeholder management
  • Any secondary review/oversight responsibilities (approving wires, approving in ACBS Pipeline/Servicing, etc.)
  • Monitoring of exception reporting, timely resolution of cash reconciliation outages. Supporting team with resolution of complex outages.
  • Create or assist in drafting of operational incident reports; partnering with Commercial Risk on root cause analysis, remediation and prevention.

Work from Home Technology Requirements:

  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied via cellular data or hotspot

    • A private network that is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network
    • Internet service must be provided by Cable or fiber Internet Service Provides (ISP)
    • Hotspots and satellite services are prohibited and do not meet performance criteria required for optimal agent/customer interactions
    • ISP download speeds on VPN must be at least 5Mbps, with 10+ Mbps preferred
    • To validate ISP speeds from a Chrome browser, go to www.google.com, type Speed Test and run from the Google landing page
  • Both Hardwire and WiFi internet connections are acceptable as long as speed and security requirements are met

Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology are delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice. Internet Service Provider specs can change by provider and location within the US. If you are experiencing consistent issues with internet stability Capital One reserves the right to ask the agent to upgrade internet service to ensure a good customer experience.

Work from Home Living Requirements:

  • Candidates must live within approximately 50 miles of one of the hub locations based in 23238, 75024 or 28203 and be comfortable coming in person whenever required with no less than 24 hours notice.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 3 years of Commercial Loan Agent Syndication experience
  • At least 1 year of People Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • 2+ years of People Leadership experience
  • 2+ years experience with Sponsor (Private Equity) backed Closings and Legal documentation
  • 4+ years of Commercial Loan Booking or Commercial Loan Servicing experience
  • 4+ years of Loan Syndication experience
  • 3+ years of experience with ACBS
