National Auction Manager (Remote)

Manages relationship between Capital One and various suppliers. Responsible for understanding the objectives of their line of business and then developing and managing the outsourced supplier network that meets performance, cost, and risk goals. Monitors reports which detail supplier performance, communicates performance to suppliers, and makes recommendations for improvement, as needed. Participates in developing strategies, processes, or projects that will improve business performance. Develops skills of the team to leverage strengths and fill gaps to address performance and risk areas.

Role and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the oversight of Vehicle Remarketing Vendor Management (Auctions), Vehicle Remarketing Operations (Auction Representatives) and support of Vehicle Remarketing processes and teams (NOI, Auction Support, Proceeds) . These duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Management and leadership of a team of 12 traveling auction representatives
  • Develop and monitor auction rep process management performance and development
  • Drive, monitor, and report vendor operational results and compliance
  • Maintain and manage relationships with Auction Vendor regional sales and operations teams
  • Maintain networking relationships with industry peer consignors
  • Represent Capital One interests and brand at industry events (conferences, roundtables, advisory board meetings)
  • Build/leverage frameworks and well managed processes to drive performance and efficiencies across department/channel/experiences.
  • Identify process gaps and mitigate risk through development and implementation of actionable and sustainable process improvements
  • Support strategic initiatives, test design and delivery on operational execution strategy plans
  • SME level Vehicle Remarketing escalation support for internal partner departments
  • Communicate vendor performance metrics and trends to leadership
  • Escalation and engagement support for direct reports
  • Support Enterprise Supplier Management vendor adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Assess and manage supplier performance
  • Establish a strategic vision with suppliers and drive execution
  • Reporting, analysis and communications of supplier performance
  • Lead process design and analysis projects in concert with external vendors

The Person

  • Influential presence and presentation skills to senior leadership and equivalent industry peers
  • Ability to manage effectively through change
  • Professional and diplomatic interpersonal written and verbal communication
  • Critical Thinking and innovative problem solving

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 5 years of experience with vehicle auctions or the vehicle remarketing industry
  • At least 2 years of People Leadership experience
  • At least 2 years of Vendor Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in the auction or vehicle remarketing industry
  • At least 3 years of vendor management experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or PMP certification

Location: The position is 100% remote with weekly travel.

Work at Home Technology Requirements

  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot)
  • Cable or fiber connections are preferred
  • Internet service download speeds must be at least 5 mbps, with 10+ mbps preferred - check your download speed using a speed test. A sample one can be found here.   • Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
  • Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
  • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of site to every device on the network
  • Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate
  • Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology are delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Remote (Regardless of Location): $108,700 - $124,100 for Extended Operations Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
