Do you like working in the spotlight? Can you build relationships as well as develop and implement innovative solutions? Are you intellectually curious? As a Manager in the Retail Risk Office, you will lead governance processes within the Change Management Team. You will also work closely with fellow risk advisors and second line stakeholders to govern activities associated with the well-managed governance of Enterprise Wide Initiatives (EWIs) and Division Level Initiatives (DLIs).

The Risk Manager will provide direct leadership in ensuring the compliance of Retail and PPX+S with enterprise risk standards and guidance while actively collaborating with the Launch Risk Assessment Team Lead. You will leverage a symbiotic, matrixed relationship to manage and assign resources, support sustainability of key processes, and deliver outstanding service to our business partners and risk advisors.

Managers in the Retail Risk Office are highly motivated risk management professionals with excellent communication and organizational skills. They are team players with a continuous improvement mindset. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and enjoy working in collaborative settings. They find ways to innovate while identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure a well-managed regulatory environment.

  • EWI/DLI Governance is the collection of actions and activities that support the adherence to governance requirements, including cadence-driven reporting of status, objectives, risks, and constraints. Processes associated with EWI/DLI Governance drive speed, accuracy and adherence through our innovation and change routines, working closely with our business partners and leaders.
  • LAUNCH Risk Assessment is designed to prudently manage the risks associated with introducing new, expanded, or modified products and services. Processes associated with this risk assessment support governance, risk identification, due diligence, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure process framework is delivered within established Enterprise standards
  • Facilitate collaborative meetings with 1st and 2nd line process participants
  • Monitor system(s) of record for accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Act as a process subject matter expert and leverage this knowledge to support and influence process participants
  • Develop curriculum to stakeholders and requirements evolve - establish and own training delivery methods and mechanisms
  • Use your vantage point to connect the dots of the changing strategic and operational priorities and risk environment and partner with the risk advisors and business to understand the impacts
  • Understand and use data to tell the compelling story (trends, changes and impacts)
  • Establish collaborative routines with second line partners
  • Evaluate and identify impacts to of enterprise governance to division stakeholders and influence as necessary
  • Lead, manage, prioritize work and and consistently deliver results
  • Manage governance routines, trackers, systems to sustain accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Act as a process subject matter expert and leverage this knowledge to support and influence process participants
  • Incorporate evolving strategic and operational priorities into operational norms and BAU delivery
  • Constantly monitor and interpret impacts to the risk environment
  • Manage appropriate work distribution across assign team members
  • Establish and sustain workflow procedures and business continuity plans in partnership with Launch Team Lead

  • Risk Lens. You can apply a risk perspective towards creating a safety net that incorporates advances in the strategy of Retail and PPX+S and while protecting Capital One.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 1 year of Risk Management Systems of Records
  • At least 2 years of Financial Services, Risk Management, Compliance or Audit Experience
  • At least 3 years of Project Management or Process Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business client

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of Financial Services, Risk Management, Compliance or Audit Experience
  • 4+ years of Project Management or Process Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
  • PMP Certification or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
  • Working knowledge of consumer regulatory laws and regulations
  • MS Office, Google Suite, Tableau
