As a Risk Manager in Capital One's Card Risk Team you will apply your risk management, project management and analytical skills to our highest profile risk projects. You will collaborate with teams across the enterprise to develop and implement cutting edge risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. Risk Managers partner with Executives and their teams to identify potential risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. This role will be the primary risk advisor for the Card Division in relation to Generative AI.

Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent project management and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and risk, compliance and other business support functions implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

A successful Risk Manager on this team will use their technology and risk background to advise and challenge our first line teams to identify, document, and mitigate risks to an appropriate level and in a sustainable manner. The individual has great communication skills, is comfortable interacting with individuals in a variety of roles, across varying levels, and manages multiple innovative fast-moving projects. The ideal candidate is forward thinking, quick to adapt to change, and has an interest and background in technology. This individual will partner across 1st, 2nd, 3rd LOD risk teams, software engineering teams, Cyber, and business teams to develop and support best-in-class industry risk Generative AI solutions in a manner that supports innovation and protects our customers, shareholders and associates.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the risk advisor for the Card LOB GenAI line of busine and use case teams.
  • Partner with business teams, data engineers, and assurance functions, such as Cyber and Compliance, throughout GenAI use case lifecycles.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify risks and effective mitigation activities and controls.
  • Ensure the Card division is well managed, ready for testing engagements, and in compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Lead and support audits, exams, and assessments with GenAI components
  • Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes
  • Provide reporting to bring valuable insights to senior leadership
  • Stay current on the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to GenAI

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 6 years of experience in Technology, Risk Management, Compliance, or Audit
  • At least 4 years of Project or Program Management experience
  • At least 4 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Business Management, Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • At least 8 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit, Consulting, or Technology within the financial services industry5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk
  • Familiarity with GenAI risk management
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification, or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
