Business Risk Lead, Director, Enterprise Services Risk Office

As a member of the Enterprise Services Risk (ESR) Business Risk Management team, you will partner with colleagues across Brand, External Affairs, Ventures and other risk teams to deliver results that have a direct impact on internal and external customer experience, and implement risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. Responsibilities require partnering with a broad set of leaders and stakeholders to identify existing and potential emerging risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. There is a heavy emphasis on transforming the risk profile and partnering with leaders on their strategic initiatives to ensure they are implemented effectively with a leading edge risk posture.

What you'll do:
- Partner with Brand, Ventures and External Affairs and leverage a trust advisor model to support business initiatives, issue management, process improvement, control testing and related risk assessment activities
- Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, technology, services, and risk profile
- Conduct periodic risk reviews with the executives and support reporting for technology risk metrics
- Develop risk analysis, perform deep dive investigations, and drive specific risk initiatives to minimize risk posture and strengthen overall control suite effectiveness
- Implement process improvements: process certification framework, process hierarchy change management, change control, and risk reporting
- Oversee teams who are responsible for managing Enterprise process hierarchy (L1/L2 processes), controls, and other core risk foundations
- Help resolve the large thorny issues, and concerns, and develop plans to proactively manage emerging risks and regulatory focus areas
- Consult on risks across the first line of defense business and technology partners providing advice and guidance as needed
- Participate in processes criticality assessments and process level assessments
- Communicate complex ideas concisely and convincingly; adjust communication to the audience; comfortable with presenting to executive leadership
- Brings energy to their team and partners, and rallies them around a common goal
- Be an approachable and effective partner to navigate regulatory and compliance requirements to help develop fit for purpose solutions with the ability to flex where appropriate
- Understand the broader context and implications (e.g., financial, legal, reputational, etc.) of the various types of risk affecting the business area
- Partner with Divisional and Enterprise wide Risk Associates to remove complexity and improve efficiency
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or military experience
- At least 10 years of experience in Risk Management
- At least 8 years of People Management experience
- At least 8 years of experience in project management, risk program, Cloud risk management, process management or any combination of the four
- At least 8 years of experience supporting or partnering with internal clients, external clients, or a combination of the two
- At least 8 years of experience consulting with senior executives
- At least 4 years of experience working in cross functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in project management, process management, agile delivery
- At least 10 years of experience managing senior stakeholders across different business functions
- At least 10 years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership audience
- At least 10 years of experience in strategy development, preferably working in financial services and/or technology

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $233,100 - $266,000 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis
Illinois (Hybrid On-Site): $217,300 - $248,000 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
