The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing payroll operations for the UK and EU countries. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with local regulations, and continuous improvement of payroll processes. The Payroll Manager will also provide expertise in payroll-related matters and collaborate with various departments to enhance the overall payroll experience.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing:
- Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing for the UK and EU countries, including special payrolls such as bonuses, year-end payrolls, and beginning-of-year payrolls
- Manages payroll vendors across the assigned region and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Oversees the audit payroll entries and reconcile payments, including benefit payment schedules, to ensure accuracy and policy compliance
- Reviews journal entry files, funding disbursement requests, and summarize final cash disbursements for Finance & Accounting and Treasury
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of UK/EU domestic and global payroll and social tax reporting issues. Applies knowledge in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting the department/business area.
- Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of accounting entries as it relates to Payroll.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of pension calculations, contributions and reporting across locations.
- Ensures pension plan treatment is in line with our internal policies and guidelines as well as in compliant with external regulations.
- Coordinates internally with HR and US payroll associates to ensure information on eligibility and participation are accurately incorporated in the payroll

- Compliance and Regulation:
- Keep abreast of local and expatriate-related regulation evolution and payroll practices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external and internal auditors on payroll-related responsibilities
- Collaborates and coordinates with HR, Global Mobility, payroll provider and works directly with Deloitte /Payroll Services Provider and ensures tax filing obligations are met timely and accurately.
- Keeps abreast of regulatory changes, makes necessary analysis and recommendations to ensure payroll, pension and tax reporting are in compliance and appropriate communication to associates.
- Acts as a subject matter expert for inquiries made by global payroll associates, Global Mobility group, Finance & Accounting.
- Process Improvement:
- Participate in the development and lead the implementation of payroll strategies.
- Provide feedback on improving and streamlining payroll-related processes
- Design and create data visualizations for a diverse audience and identify actionable insights through data analysis]
- Oversee the smooth operation of all benefits programs and processes, as they relate payroll deductions and adjustments
- System Implementation and Upgrades:
- Participate in system upgrades and implementations by identifying test scenarios, performing user acceptance testing, and reporting results
- Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll systems and provide guidance on complex issues and situations
- Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentor less-experienced payroll accountants on audit activities and provide guidance on complex payroll issues
- Lead regional or global projects related to payroll and benefits, ensuring successful implementation and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in payroll and benefits for the UK and European countries
- Strong knowledge of country-specific wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and payroll practices
- Proven ability to manage payroll vendors and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to design data visualizations and provide actionable insights
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to lead projects and guide less-experienced team members
- Proficiency in payroll systems and experience with system implementations and upgrades
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
