The Senior Institutional Product Specialist will be an integral member of Capital Group's Institutional Product Management team. The team's mission is to deliver Capital's capabilities to the institutional market by creating exceptional client value and generating long-term competitive advantage. The institutional market focuses on our largest clients, and the intermediaries who work with them, across public and corporate institutions, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and endowment and foundation asset pools.

The team's work anchors on 4 key areas: institutional market and client expertise, strategy and planning, initiative leadership and oversight, and ongoing management and support of our investment products and services. The team partners closely with institutional sales and service, marketing, legal/compliance, and operations.

As a Senior Institutional Product Specialist, your primary responsibilities are to ensure that our product offering meets market and client needs and product strategy is effectively executed. To do that, you'll leverage your in-depth knowledge of the institutional business to plan and execute key broad/cross-functional initiatives related to products and services. You'll play a critical role in the continual support and improvements of the existing product portfolio, including product changes and new product launches/services, in support of strategic business objectives.

  • You will serve as a subject matter expert and consult with a variety of cross functional partners (e.g., sales, service, and marketing) regarding product inquiries and enhancement requests.
  • You will have in-depth knowledge of the institutional market and target customers, staying abreast of industry trends and incorporating competitive knowledge and customer insights into key initiatives and recommendations.
  • You demonstrate the ability to compile and apply business insights, utilizing knowledge of product construction and pricing, operational policies, service model and sales/marketing approach to problem-solve, formulate recommendations and deliver impactful outcomes to clients and Capital Group.
  • You have the ability to guide business partners through complex issues and advise on standard and best practices with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • You will lead small/medium scale projects, leading cross-functional teams and managing project timelines and resources to drive enhancements to existing offerings.
  • You will be responsible for the development and execution of go-to-market strategies.
  • You might interface with plan sponsors or other intermediaries when deeper expertise of product capabilities is required.
  • You have experience in developing PowerPoint presentations and delivering presentations to internal and external parties.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5+ years of industry experience, with institutional business knowledge and a strong understanding of investments preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills around product, market landscape and service/distribution model, with the ability to develop recommendations and support assertions with relevant quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment with a track record of strong decision quality in managing and resolving matters of moderate complexity.
  • Is action-oriented and demonstrates self-awareness, nimble learning, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Demonstrates ability to build internal networks, collaborate effectively and influence groups and/or more senior associates.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred, MBA or CFA a plus

Southern California Base Salary Range: $116,974-$187,158

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
