Overview:

Capital Group is seeking to add a US High Yield Corporate Credit Investment Analyst to expand our investment capabilities. The Fixed Income group invests broadly across the global fixed income markets and has assets under management in excess of $500 billion. As an Investment Analyst, you will conduct fundamental financial, market, and macro research in conjunction with assessing bonds from a variety of issuers and industries within the US High Yield corporate credit universe. You will be responsible for the communication and dissemination of your research, analysis, and investment recommendations. In addition, within their first year most Investment Analysts start to directly manage assets in a research portfolio comprised primarily of HY corporate bonds from within your coverage universe.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sector-oriented research in specific areas of coverage and financial analysis of US high yield corporate bonds.
  • Analyze economic, financial, and industry trends, and proactively communicate your outlook with other analysts, portfolio managers, and other investment professionals.
  • Maintain contact with company management teams and industry participants on an on-going basis.
  • Develop perspectives on interest rate movements, credit spreads, yield curve/duration risks, and currency risks.
  • Produce written reports and provide regular updates, as needed.
  • Engage with and make investment recommendations to portfolio managers and other investment professionals.
  • Manage a portfolio of securities drawn from your specific industry coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally a minimum of 3-7 years of relevant buy-side or sell-side IG corporate credit research.
  • Superior research skills and the drive to distil, develop, and share value-additive investment insights from multiple angles.
  • Adept at navigating credit agreements, bond indentures, liability management and restructuring concepts.
  • Understanding of fixed income markets with a demonstrated track record of success. Grasp of macroeconomic factors and a curiosity about the US high yield bond market.
  • Strong interest in investing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (candidates will be comfortable and familiar presenting research in a variety of different ways, for example through thematic reports, weekly briefings, and oral presentations).
  • Self-starter with an ability to work proactively, creatively, and collaboratively as part of a global team (with a wide range of internal stakeholders).
  • MBA and/or CFA desired but not required.

Los Angeles and New York Base Salary Range minimum and maximum:

$140,000 - $320,000

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
