We are looking a highly motivated and dynamic salesperson to join our Singapore-based financial intermediaries (FIT) sales team. The FIT client segment and the Singapore & Southeast Asia region both play a significant role in Capital Group's plan to grow our business. This role will report into the FIT team head responsible for leading and developing Capital's intermediary business in the region. The head of the Singapore & Southeast Asia Client Group will also play an important role in ensuring that the organization provides what you need to be successful at Capital Group and have a fulfilling, rewarding career over the long-term.
This role will be focused on the retail and private wealth segment in Singapore and South East Asia, with a focus on expanding our distribution footprint and expanding our investment consultants and relationship managers network across banks, insurance and platforms. We will work with you to set your dedicated coverage as you'll work alongside with the existing team consisting of 1 Associate Business Development Manager, 2 Senior Business Development Associates and 1 Business Development Associate. This role will be highly externally focused and is well supported internally. This role provides the opportunity to engage clients at different stages of their client journey, from prospecting to raising and retaining assets. You should focus on activities designed to maximise new sales and retention, which will include managing accounts, due diligence with fund selectors, branch visits and trainings, portfolio reviews, being creative in engaging clients and positioning products, networking and expanding RM/IC network.

Collaboration is a key part of Capital Group's success and its culture. There will be close working relationships with the HK-based, key European FIT sales teams, and Singapore-based GFI lead; highly collaborative and non-territorial sales teams across the US, Europe, and Asia work together to support global FIT clients. Certain insurance clients will require a joined-up account management approach with Singapore and Hong Kong based institutional sales teams. Also, partner with our Singapore-based client servicing team and marketing business partner to support your clients.
The role is based in our Singapore office, which was established in 1989, and includes many supporting functions, including Marketing, Investment Directors, Investment Products & Services, Investment Professionals, etc).
Primary responsibilities:
Client-centric and consultative sales skills
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and prospects; take an interest in your clients
- Independently manage your accounts with direction and support by the FIT team head
- Drive sales and retain assets once funds are onboarded by conducting trainings, keeping gatekeepers updated as markets evolve, and differentiating against competing funds
- Be creative in engaging the distributors with events/webinars for bankers or end clients and other value-added services, such as Capital Learning or Capital Ideas Pro.
- Proactively fill your pipeline of new clients through understanding their situations, finding solutions, and converting prospects
- Maintain a high level of activity in engaging with clients and achieve sales targets
Identifying opportunities
- Stay on top of product and client trends and keep your ear close to the ground
- Involvement in market research and business planning alongside BDM for SEA
- Support knowledge transfer of market intel to sales and product teams, drive bottom-up sales demand assessment for new ideas
- Work with product teams to agree competitive product positioning and develop creative sales angles
Internal Capital Group navigation and collaboration
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to bring the scale of Capital Group to your clients, e.g. Sales teams in other markets, Investment Directors, Investment Products & Services, Investment Professionals, Marketing, Client Servicing, RFP, Business Data & Analytics, Client Analytics Group
- Mentor and direct client & internal work of BDA to support your client efforts
Sales collaboration
- Work as part of a collegial team of sales associates that shares ideas and best practices; alignment with HK sales team is particularly important
- Collaborate with key European/US sales teams, GFI team, and Enterprise Relationship Management team to ensure global distributor relationships are coordinated and seamless
Requirements:
- 8-10 years of asset management sales experience with established relationships with financial intermediaries, and a track record of generating business
- Experience and comfort in doing stand-up presentations to large audiences
- Fluency in Mandarin a plus to more effectively cover Singapore-based China banker teams
- Some travel required within assigned sales territory (e.g. Southeast Asia or for client events)
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
