Job Description

Design Responsible Engineer for E-Motor components. Guide the engineering development of electric motor components from sourcing to launch. Coordinate the release of the design, obtain design approvals, ensure design manufacturability, component readiness, pieces cost & mass tracking, support future design direction, lead & facilitate resolution of component issues, lead design changes through change management process, support supplier quality, support manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with multi-functional team to design and develop functional solutions that achieve design requirements to ensure proper design works with other components, and all requirements are met. Work with other functions Design / Releasing teams to ensure consistency in requirements, standards, and practices across programs. Coordinate change management.
  • Own and update Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR), ensure functional objectives, guidelines and corporate requirements are met.
  • Develop timelines and drive programs to meet deliverables. Present action plans with status/risks to get and keep programs on track. Author and submit source packages on time to support product plans!
  • Manage Tier I suppliers and software releases and/or hardware designs to meet program timing and work. Follow, track and root cause build issues found during pre-production builds, prior to launch of the program and warranty analysis of all the components post launch
  • Clearly communicate component status and issues in Google Suite and MS-Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Work with Prototype Build Engineering to procure long lead components and coordinate sample requests for component suppliers!
  • Work with designers to develop packaging and resolve issues.
  • Provide build and launch support as needed

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a closely related engineering degree from an ABET accredited university.
  • We are looking minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in the automotive field, preferably product development/powertrain
  • Self-starter with strong leadership, communication skills, and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Advanced degree in engineering from an ABET accredited University.
  • We are looking candidates with 5+ years of related engineering experience.
  • We are looking candidates with 2+ years of design release experience.
  • Understanding of Electric Motor operation, design, manufacturing, testing & development
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter.
  • Knowledge of drawing GD&T and dimensional tolerance stack-ups.
  • Experience with Statement of Requirements, DFMEA, and Design Reviews.
  • Working knowledge of problem resolution and tracking systems and engineering change management processes.
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Certification.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Always eager to learn and improve.
