Compensation: $75,794 - $86,503

YOUR ROLE

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Finance provides timely, accurate,and relevant financial reports and analyses, plays a key role in leading budgetingand quarterly forecast reviews, assists in leading the annual audit, andprepares statutory reports, monitors cash flow and investments, oversees monthlyaccounting, and supports process improvement and financial systems maintenancein collaboration with the Manager, Financial Systems. The Manager, Finance managesthe Accounting Team (i.e. the Finance Officer and Finance Coordinator), as wellas the Donor Services Team and is responsible for the following tasks for boththe Society and the Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting andAnalysis
• Responsiblefor month-end close and preparing monthly schedules.
• Assist inanalyzing actual vs budget operating results.
• Discussfinancial results and relevant matters with budget holders.
• Workingwith the CFO, assist in drafting the quarterly financial report package for theAudit Committee.
• Prepareother ad hoc reports or analyses as required.

Budgeting and QuarterlyForecast Reviews
• Work withCFO to develop budget and forecasting process.
• Supportbudget holders in developing annual budget.
• Conductquarterly review of quarterly forecasts with budget holders; review material adjustmentswith CFO.
• Proposeenhancements to the budgeting and forecast review process as necessary.

Annual Audit Supportand Statutory Reporting
• Together with the CFO, be the primary contactto external auditors.
• Prepare allrequired schedules and information for the annual external financial audit.
• Preparestatutory returns including T3010, GST, PST, and BC Gaming reports for theHospice and Foundation.

Cash Flow andInvestment Monitoring
• Continuouslyreview and maintain cash flow requirement levels.
• Advise ChiefFinancial Officer of any emerging issues.

Oversight of theAccounting Team
• Ensurecompletion of all monthly tasks designated to the Accounting Team per themonthly checklist.
• Providesupport to the Accounting Team as needed.
• Work withthe Accounting Team to improve processes and achieve efficiencies where possible.

Oversight of the DonorServices Team
• Oversee timely donationprocessing, tax receipting and donor acknowledgements
• Work with team to developannual work plan.
• Provide support to theDonor Services Team as needed.
• Ensures CRA regulations andinternal policies are applied and update Development team of any changes.
• Work with Donor Servicesteam to improve processes and achieve efficiencies where possible.

Process Improvement andFinancial Systems Support
• Recommendfinancial procedures to ensure compliance, strong internal controls andefficiency and regularly review and update Finance policies as necessary.
• Togetherwith the CFO, work with the Manager, Financial Systems on financial systemsselection and upgrades as necessary.

PeopleManagement

Provides supervisory support to the Accounting Team and theDonor Services Team including:
• Annualdevelopment reviews;
• Annualcareer check ins;
• Approvalof time cards;
• Approvalof absence and requested time off;
• Regular1:1 checks in;
• Recommendsand approves appropriate training and development opportunities; and
• Assumes other related responsibilities, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Successful completion of CPA designation
• A minimum of five years recent experience in financial accounting,budget preparation, and cost analysis, preferably in a non-profit environment.
• Or a comparative combination of relevant education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Thorough knowledge ofgenerally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Canada Revenue Agencyregulations for Canadian Registered Charities.
• Superioranalytical and problem solving abilities with a high accuracy and keenattention to detail.
• Bigpicture thinker and solution focused approach to meeting tasks at hand andorganizational financial requirements.
• Excellentinterpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability tointeract with individuals at all levels.
• Demonstratedability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and situations.
• Demonstratedability to establish and maintain appropriate professional and personalboundaries.
• Proficientin MS Excel.
• Computerliterate and knowledge of NetSuite, Virtuous, UKG-Pro, and UKG-Dimensions wouldbe an asset.
