About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a PET Radiochemist to join our Production team within Calyx. The main role of the PET Radiochemist is to support clinical studies by producing PET radiopharmaceuticals to GMP compliance and implementation and validation of new clinical products. The radiochemistry performed on site is unique & bespoke with 25-30 different compounds being produced.

This role is based on our London site which operates a unique clinical and pre-clinical imagining centre with state-of-the-art PET and MRI technology used to support clinical research.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate within a Scientific discipline with an understanding of working to GMP standards who is looking to begin a career within chemistry. We would also welcome applications from a chemist or radiochemist with some experience who is interested in working within PET radiochemistry.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support day-to-day manufacture and dispensing of PET radiopharmaceuticals to GMP standards. The task involves the operation of various automated radiochemistry/dispensing equipment and the completion of Production related documentation.
  • To support daily activities in the Production Laboratories.
  • To develop and validate new Chemistry processes and Chemistry equipment.
  • General maintenance of Production Chemistry laboratories and equipment maintenance to reduce the rate of batch failures and associated Production down-time.
  • To lead and support method development and implementation of new PET radiopharmaceuticals for human use.
  • Responsible for specific projects related to Chemistry development and improvement including raising, completing, and managing change controls.
  • To operate to approved quality standards by recording production quality related actions (e.g. deviations, change controls) in a timely manner, in order to comply with Calyx policies and regulatory requirements.
  • To perform self-inspections/audits in line with Calyx's audit program.
  • To facilitate continuous process improvement.
  • To keep up to date with relevant procedures and policies.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • BSc or MSc in a scientific discipline
  • Demonstrable knowledge of GMP, relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Previous radiochemistry experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail
  • Ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
