About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Cyclotron Engineer to join our growing Cyclotron Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance of our two Siemens / CTI Eclipse HP cyclotrons.

This role is based at our London offices within the Hammersmith Hospital campus. Our London site operates a unique clinical and pre-clinical imagining centre with state-of-the-art PET and MRI technology used to support clinical research.

Please note this position does involve shift work, including night shifts, and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation, training, repair, and maintenance (including management of repair parts inventory) of the two Siemens RDS Eclipse cyclotrons, Radionuclide Delivery System and the ACS based at the clinical imaging centre.
  • Ensuring the operation of the equipment complies with internal and external regulations and authorizations.
  • Active involvement in the design, building, commissioning, and improvement of new or existing complex automated radio-synthesis systems.
  • Providing general engineering support to all disciplines at the centre.
  • Maintaining the RNDS Radio Nuclide Delivery System responsible for distributing PET radioisotopes to both GMP and research areas.
  • Documentation control of all cyclotron vault area SOP's ensuring accurate records of both environmental data and equipment condition are kept.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining a list and inventory of Cyclotron spare parts.
  • Set up, operate fully functional mechanical workshop to modify, design and manufacture of complex electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a degree (or equivalent) in electronics and/or mechanical engineering or related technology
  • Previous experience in PET cyclotron operation, maintenance and repairs.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience and a sound knowledge concerning working with radioactive materials is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience in using Lab View would be an advantage.
  • Experience of developing targetry is highly desirable.
  • Proven delivery of automated systems, and mechanical workshop equipment.
