Responsibilities
SUMMARY:
Individual must hold a degree in Interior Design with limited experience in professional office. Requires basic understanding of design and planning principles with ability to interpret and document design concepts. An individual would assist and support senior designers in various tasks such as computer aided design, research, and material selections. Client interaction opportunities include potential participation at client meetings, gathering initial project requirements and preferences. Expect to assist in basic space planning / programming activities, including layout options and furniture arrangements. Conduct research on materials, finishes, and products suitable for the intended project and scope. Collaboratively support creating floor plans, elevations, and other documents for submittal. Must have knowledge of drawing techniques and procedures. Help in preparing presentations, including mood boards, and finish and material palettes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain knowledge in client interaction and communication.
- Participate in project design effort.
- Assist in the preparation and conducting client interviews. Consolidate information into a Program Document outlining square footage and personnel requirements.
- Assist in initiating preparation of FF&E and Equipment List gathering electrical, plumbing, and special requirements from client.
- Gain knowledge in preparing Schematics, to include Block & Stacking Plans.
- Gain knowledge in Space Planning.
- Gain knowledge in development of FF&E Specifications.
- Gain knowledge in preparing a complete set of Construction Documents.
- Gain knowledge and general responsibility for technical implementations of design concepts during construction documents.
- Gain understanding and knowledge pertaining to code compliance as it relates to ADA and Life Safety.
- Gain understanding and knowledge of construction techniques and constructibility as it relates to interiors; flooring, partitions, ceilings, and other finish materials.
- Assist in coordination of all applicable project discipline’s drawings.
- Assist in preparing communications with outside consultants.
- Has working knowledge of computer aided design drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings.
- Assist in preparation of digital presentations inclusive of physical material palettes.
- Participates in the review of outgoing submittal. Responsible for job specific standards, practices, and quality, as defined in BRPH System Manuals.
- Familiar with project schedule & budget worksheets.
- Assist in the development and coordination of a furniture bid document.
- Assists in maintaining and monitoring project profitability.
- Coordinates with Studio Leader allocating manpower, in efforts to meet project deadlines.
- Attends recurring scheduled meetings with studio and practice.
- Maintain administrative / technical documents required by leadership, accounting, or others, as it pertains to the management of Interior Design projects.
- Assist with clarifications pertaining to billing invoices.
- Develops professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
- Marketing duties & responsibilities:
- Participates in marketing efforts and client presentations when requested.
- Maintain client relationships and develop new revenues thru continuing services.
- Active member in a professional trade organization.
- Contract duties & responsibilities:
- Identify modifications of project scope as described by leadership.
Qualifications
COMPUTER SOFTWARE SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the use of:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- Microsoft Office: Word and Excel
- Adobe: Photoshop and InDesign
- Sketch-Up
- Enscape
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Four-year degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited college or university.
- Minimum two years within a CIDA accredited college or university for Interns.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
