Overview

BRPH is looking for an Interior Designer IV for our Orlando, Florida office and will be working on Vacation Resort Projects.  This individual will have the ability to provide leadership in design direction and strategy, develop functional requirements and project-design criteria for a wide variety of building types and design complexities. Requires substantial knowledge of design and planning principles, building and planning code requirements, specifications preparation and negotiation. Individual directs work efforts of others, develops detailed design concepts, produces contract documents, interprets ordinances, and communicates client needs. Works directly with clients on projects of any size. Tackles more complex space planning challenges, optimizing functionality and flow in various environments. Integrates sustainable design principles and practices into projects where applicable. Ability to identify and mitigate potential project risks, ensuring successful project outcomes. There is a focus on recruiting, training, and building a cohesive design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative studio environment. Contribute to business development efforts by networking, participating in client pursuits, and preparing proposals.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May serve as prime contact of firm with clients, consultants, and public agencies.
  • Provide leadership in project design. 
  • Prepare and conduct client interviews. Consolidate information into a Program Document outlining square footage and personnel requirements. 
  • Initiate preparation of FF&E and Equipment List gathering electrical, plumbing, and special requirements from client. 
  • Proficient in preparing Schematics, to include Block & Stacking Plans.
  • Proficient in Space Planning.
  • Proficient in development of FF&E Specifications.
  • Proficient in preparing a complete set of Construction Documents. 
  • Responsible for technical implementations of design concepts during construction documents, specifications, building, & construction administration.
  • Responsible for code compliance as it relates to ADA and Life Safety. All plans to be reviewed and coordinated with Architect of record throughout the design process, (schematic through final construction documents).
  • Prepare reports and Specifications. 
  • Provide coordination of all applicable project discipline’s drawings.
  • Establish and monitor outside consultants. 
  • Has working knowledge of computer aided design drafting to produce designs into routine final drawings.
  • Prepares digital presentations inclusive of physical material palettes.
  • Has excellent understanding and knowledge of construction techniques and constructibility as it relates to interiors; flooring, partitions, ceilings, and other finish materials. 
  • Visits construction site to review, monitor, and report progress and perform other construction administration duties, such as shop drawings review, attend construction site meetings, review RFI’s, prepare ASI’s, PR’s, prepare status reports, per the contract documents. 
  • Review and monitor quality of outgoing submittal. Responsible for job specific standards, practices, and quality, as defined in BRPH System Manuals.
  • Review project schedule & budget worksheets. 
  • Assist client in selection & procurement of furniture through development and coordination of furniture bid document. Further assist client in evaluation of pricing and awarding of bid. Upon completion of installation prepare furniture punch list and track outstanding items. 
  • Follow-up with client after occupancy to confirm client satisfaction. 
  • Maintain and monitor project profitability. 
  • Assists in development of project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinates manpower allocations as it pertains to assigned projects. 
  • Attends recurring scheduled meetings with studio and practice.
  • Encourage continuing education efforts among team and personnel professional growth. 
  • Promote mentoring within Interior Design studio/practice. Specifically, to include support and encouragement for NCIDQ certification. 
  • Maintain administrative / technical documents required by leadership, accounting, or others, as it pertains to the management of Interior Design projects.
  • Review monthly project billing invoices to confirm correct manpower & reimbursable charges. 
  • Follow-up with client questions pertaining to billing invoices and confirm final payment with accounting. 
  • Identify modifications of project scope as described in the legal contract and pursue additional services when acceptable. 
  • Review employee time-sheets as it pertains to assigned projects. 
  • Contract duties & responsibilities:
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies. 
    • General knowledge of preparation and use of interior design / architectural contracts.
  • Marketing duties & responsibilities:
    • Participates in marketing efforts and client presentations. 
    • Maintain client relationships and develop new revenues thru continuing services.
    • Active member in a professional trade organizations.

COMPUTER SOFTWARE SKILLS:

Must be proficient in the use of:

  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • Microsoft Office: Word and Excel
  • Adobe: Photoshop and InDesign
  • Sketch-Up
  • Enscape

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 6 years professional experience within the Interior Design / Architectural field. 

 

CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

Meet qualifications for taking the NCIDQ exam.
