As a Payroll Tax Analyst, you will act as the subject matter expert and support HR Operations with day-to-day inquiries to complex payroll issues and tax questions. This role requires knowledge of payroll tax regulations to interpret Federal and state laws. This includes ensuring employee tax changes, withholding and payroll adjustments are done correctly. Proactively research and recommend best practices to optimize payroll tax processes. Also, should be also familiar with all payroll processing functions to review and audit payroll transactions that impact tax withholding and reporting. Knowledge of Benefits taxation and FLSA guidelines is also vital.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and administer internal controls to ensure that tax information for all associates is properly set up in the payroll system.
  • Research state and local jurisdictions for tax compliance.
  • Support Multi-State tracking and compliance.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations for bi-weekly and monthly multi-state payrolls.
  • Assist associates on tax and payroll related queries.
  • Interpret payroll policies and tax rules to ensure appropriate tax, benefits and garnishment deductions are calculated and applied correctly.
  • Issuance of W-2 c's, reclassing prior period and prior year adjustments
  • Conduct Peer-review for any transactions issued by Payroll team members.
  • Research complex and critical issues while meeting Payroll SLA's.
  • Make recommendations for process improvement opportunities. Document department processes and update SOPs.
  • Assist with state and federal audits of payroll records such as: Labor dept audits, state withholdings discrepancies, federal tax filings inquiries and related documentation.
  • Review and balance wages and tax liabilities by pay group on a per pay-period basis.
  • Support Quarterly and YE Tax process to ensure accurate filings and reporting by tax service provider.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5 + years of payroll tax experience.
  • Knowledge of ADP Payroll system (EV, Globalview, or WorkforceNow) required.
  • Workday HR knowledge is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll processing.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local tax laws and compliance within multiple states.
  • Intermediate level using Microsoft Word and Excel, Self Service functions, and general internet usage.
  • Project and/or implementation experience is a plus
