Overview

As Senior Product Manager, you will be part of a team who will drive product line contributions reporting to the Senior Category Director. This role entails driving incremental sales and increased profitability of existing products and developing new product innovation for your category. You will have responsibilities for bringing products from concept through launch and manage existing product portfolio. You will have comprehensive knowledge of your category, competitive products, and retail position. Along with your Category Director, you will help build your 5-year category strategy and identify new product opportunities that are compelling to the consumer and our customers while identifying the best way to bring to market. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

Senior Product Manager must be able to communicate effectively with all areas of the company including:

  • Senior Management - To establish, execute & communicate category strategies that will drive product & category initiatives
  • Product Development - To outline and drive product design and pricing with design team
  • Sourcing/Procurement - To achieve the best possible costs and logistical efficiencies
  • Creative Services - To ensure effective packaging, in-store & digital content, and visual communications
  • Sales & Channel Marketing - To help drive account-level category strategy as well as educate about product lines, category knowledge and how to sell

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead as the category expert
  • Develop a 3-5year category strategy and product pipeline by using market research, product research, product testing, pricing, and competitive analysis. Be seen as an expert in your category and have a deep understanding of manufacturing, sourcing, and consumer behavior in the space
  • Manage the entire product life cycle from cradle to grave.
  • Manage development projects through internal NPD process and across cross-functional teams comprised of key stakeholders & contributors. You will lead internal team meetings and be responsible for final decisions & assessment of KPIs and risks related to the development
  • Develop and implement a category strategy plan and roll out company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute plan
  • Develop market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and consumers
  • Partner with sales in developing sell in strategies for key customer business reviews and strategic planning

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or other 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5+ years of product categories/development experience preferably in the CPG space.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel & PowerPoint
  • Analytical and problem solving skills including strong time management and organization is a must.
  • Ability to present to small and large audiences.
  • This position may require travel from time to time to customer and non-customer sites in North America as well as some travel overseas.
