Boxed is seeking a Transportation Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have broad experience with domestic transportation modes, and has direct experience with national, regional, and local parcel delivery providers, as well as LTL and TL carriers, brokers, and platforms. This person has DTC experience, and is familiar with the workings of an Online only, DTC fulfillment operation. The Transportation Manager must help with projects, assist in developing a support staff as the business grows, develop and implement metrics with all carriers, support tactical processes as needed, and think strategically about the future.

  • Bring a fresh perspective and help find inventive solutions to the needs of the Boxed network
  • Assist and lead various cross functional projects to improve the transportation team. This may include supply chain, transportation, finance, sales, regulatory, and more.
  • Identify cost savings and service improvement opportunities and execute the solution, working with all pertinent departments to resolve.
  • Develop true carrier accountability tools for service, cost, and claims, either through the use of internal resources, or external Business Intelligence entities
  • Manage the assignment of carrier geographies to meet the required service, volume commits, and cost goals

 

Desired Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or Finance is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of parcel shipping, LTL, TL
  • Experience with eCommerce and large eCommerce retailers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel; competency in the use of Periscope is a plus!
  • Capable of challenging assumptions to ensure best outcome.
  • Capable of working across multiple functional groups and creating an understanding of changes impacting a given role and/or process area.
  •  Ability to foster loyalty, cooperation, and communication among various departments.
  • Ability to occasionally travel domestically
  • Demonstrated interaction with National Parcel Carriers (FDX, UPS, USPS)
  • Demonstrated interaction with Regional Parcel Carriers (LSO, LaserShip, OnTrac, etc.)
  • Demonstrated interaction with LTL carriers, either through direct relationships, or through 3PL’s such as CH Robinson, Echo Global Logistics, etc.
  • Demonstrated interaction with TL carriers, either through direct relationships, or through technology solutions such as Convoy, Transfix, Uber Freight, etc.
