Practice Area Profile
What You'll Do
As part of BCG X's product business, you will become a member of the SmartBanking AI / CO2 FI product team, focusing on a new AI-based product offering in the climate and sustainability space, aimed at helping financial institutions in their climate action journey. You will use your data engineering and software development capabilities as well as expertise in the banking industry to drive product development and ensure successful customization and deployment on client projects. Prior exposure to risk modelling is desirable, and knowledge of climate frameworks and standards, like PACTA, PCAF, SBTi, etc. will be a plus.
As part of the CO2 FI product team, consisting of software and data engineering experts as well as topics experts, you will become a product expert to represent CO2 FI on BCG X client projects, support project team members as well as maintain the core product and develop new features. You might be required to travel for work (10%).

You have a good mix of tech and consulting skills, solving challenges with a solution-oriented approach and with the client's impact in focus. Your strong product mindset complements and supports consulting teams to build lasting software solutions. You have demonstrated experience of working on data driven software products or analytics engagements, ideally for financial institutions clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
Develop and deliver cutting-edge sustainability solutions for BCG clients.
• Deliver CO2 FI on BCG projects and leverage the highly customizable Python-based framework of the software to create solutions tailored to client's unique requirements.
• Become a product expert and the go-to person on client projects that utilize CO2 FI.
• Support clients on using CO2 FI and provide topic expertise to business users.
• Coordinate technical and data requirements with client IT teams and ensure seamless integration into client IT landscapes.
Drive product development.
• Maintain and extend the Python-based CO2 FI product platform. This includes software development as well as curation and provisioning of data sets, since CO2 FI heavily utilizes 3rd party data sources.
• Take ownership for the development of new product features in close alignment with the product owner & working closely with cross-functional teams.
• Stay up to date with latest developments of global sustainability frameworks in banking ensuring a cutting-edge software product.
• Support business development with demonstrations of the products capabilities.
What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)
• Preferred Master's degree with demonstrated high academic achievement, preferably in quantitative sciences (e.g., mathematics, statistics, or computer science engineering), other data/analytical centric disciplines, or business administration (with a focus in finance or economics and relevant exposure to quantitative analytics).
• 3-5 years of experience working in a consulting environment.
• Strong data engineering and software development skills in Python, including experience with collaborative code development (e.g. Git) and other tools for large scale software development as well as hands on exposure to different analytical tools, databases, and visualization tools.
• Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, incl. experience in picking up new topics quickly, conceptualizing the solutions, test different approaches.
• Strong product mindset with the drive to build lasting and re-usable software solutions
• Ability to efficiently communicate analytical insights through sophisticated synthesis and packaging of results (including PowerPoint presentation, documents, dashboard, and charts)
• Good to have: Knowledge of banking processes and understanding of data flows, KPIs, typical banking tech stack.
• Good to have: Experience in the field of sustainability topics for financial institutions.
• Good to have: Prior exposure to risk modelling and knowledge of climate frameworks and standards, like PACTA, PCAF, SBTi, etc. will be a plus.
• Good to have: Experience with data versioning and provisioning.
• Good to have: Experience with implementing and maintaining machine learning models as well as ML Ops concepts.
Good to have: Experience in building data and knowledge synthesis systems using GenAI.
