Booking.com continues to develop new products (i.e. adding other travel related products on our platform), global and local tax regulations continue to change, and data and tax reporting and collection obligations for platforms are our new reality. That's why we are looking for additional expertise to grow our tax team. The main focus of this role is to support coordinating and managing a portfolio of complex global tax matters for Booking.com in the areas of CIT, DST, VAT and/or local tax collection that may span across multiple departments, domains and/or geographies.
As a Tax Consultant you will work for Booking.com in Amsterdam (Booking.com's headquarters), where our entire tax department sits. You will report into the Senior Tax Manager in the tax vertical that is responsible for managing tax affairs of the Accommodations Business Unit and the Fintech Business Unit. This tax vertical is part of the tax department that currently consists of over 40 persons. The tax department is part of Booking.com's international Finance team (approx. 1000 professionals, mostly based in Amsterdam).

The role involves close interaction within our tax vertical, our entire tax department, our parent company (Booking Holdings Group based in Norwalk, Connecticut), our international offices, business managers, functional teams and other finance colleagues. Therefore, it is essential that you have excellent communication skills in English.
Due to the rapid changes in the organization, the tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You should be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.
Key Responsibilities
- Support (Senior) Tax Managers translating business activities into tax implications and translating tax developments into business implications
- Work on tax challenges in different areas of content and geographies for various tax disciplines
- Support (Senior) Tax Managers with their end to end responsibility from scoping the issue/challenge to the overall solution, including stakeholder management, driving issue resolution, initiating change management and monitoring
- Conduct tax technical analysis for tax challenges and (massive) data sets
B.Skilled
- University degree in Tax Economics/Law or similar degree
- Between 1 to 4 years of working experience within an international environment
- Strong research skills to analyze new tax legislation and implications and experience working with (massive) data sets
- Adaptability to stay updated with tax laws and technologies
- Analytical and curious mindset with regard to data analysis and technology (e.g. AI tools)
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively, comfortable working in a fast turnaround environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Open to feedback and always looking for ways to improve own performance
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English
