We are seeking a team member for the role of Senior Legal Entity Controller (Banking) / Principle, Accounting to join our UK Legal Entity Controllers team, which is involved in all aspects of LE reporting including corporate close, audit and statutory financial statements, internal reporting to management, Boards and Board Committees, and local GAAP accounting. The remit of the team is oversight, analysis and communication around the legal entities assigned to them. The team is also responsible for managing the external audit process. This role is based in Manchester (Hybrid).

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • You will own financial reporting and monitoring for a portfolio of legal entities, including entities offering banking products regulated by the PRA. You will develop an in-depth understanding of those entities' strategies, products, accounting and disclosure requirements. Leveraging the UK Legal Entity Controllers team's offshore production model, you will provide guidance and review to oversee a robust control environment and production of high-quality analysis and drive insightful reporting to key stakeholders including the board of directors, internal management. You will own the annual financial statements and audit process for assigned entities. You will also play a key part in reviews of prudential and statistical regulatory returns.
  • The Principal, Accounting, will develop close relationships with line of business and legal entity management of entities that they support as well as other corporate functions, such as Legal and Risk.
  • The role looks to drive efficiency, standardisation and a robust control environment, which includes maintenance of controls documentation for processes such as Sarbanes Oxley. The candidate will also ensure the efficient operation of routines and will identify risks to the process and ensure that key controls mitigating those risks are operating effectively.
  • You will proactively identify and resolve financial reporting issues as well as opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce risk, and work across and between functions to drive solutions, as well as become engaged in broader initiatives and projects as part of our continued drive to improve.
  • This is an ideal role for a motivated qualified accountant with at least [5] years post-qualification experience with audit and accounts preparation experience and strong analytical and communication skills. Financial services experience and a good knowledge of IFRS reporting and disclosure requirements is essential, with US GAAP experience desirable.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

Qualifications and experience
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with relevant years post qualification experience
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly IFRS; US GAAP knowledge an advantage
  • Experience of a fast moving, highly controlled, multi-national / functional organisation
  • Experience in financial services, and working with offshore teams preferred
  • Excellent PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Oracle Cloud experience desirable, but not required
