We're seeking a future team member for the role of Deposit Operations Manager to join our Deposit Operations team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA or Orlando, FL.

The Deposit Operations team is a team within the Global Operations & Technology division of BNY Mellon responsible for supporting the application of interest rates to our client accounts. Our clients include many of the premier pension funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, endowments and other financial institutions that utilizes BNY Mellon's custodial services to store their funds. Deposit Operations is a specialized group that assist with the reconciliation of client interest rates. Deposit Operations is also responsible for storing and maintaining customized interest rate agreements that have been agreed upon with clients. The role provides staff with an exceptional opportunity to implement change and develop highly transferable skillsets. Amongst others these include project management, client support and relationship management.

The key functions of this team include:
  • Monitors work and resolves team issues as required. Answering inquiries and queries from internal stakeholders.
  • Resolves complex or non-routine issues or inquiries as needed.
  • Maintains relationships with business; may use knowledge of issues to contribute to business development efforts.
  • Manages internal activities and initiatives designed to improve the client experience
  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
  • Participating in testing to ensure that our tools continue to operate accurately and efficiently.
  • Investigating reconciliation breaks across internal BNY Mellon systems.
  • Compiling and distributing metrics and management information for reporting.
  • Facilitating the onboarding of new business to our current platform.
  • Answering inquiries and queries from internal stakeholders.
  • Assessing needs and recommending alternative approaches to service models.
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways :
  • Apply expertise and judgement in providing quality, and complex client service and support to internal stakeholders on a daily basis, including phone interaction, problem resolution, and reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and executes all correspondent requisites in a timely and accurate manner with an understanding of the underlying business and specific client needs.
  • Provide product knowledge and technical assistance, determining when the more complex problems should be referred to a supervisor or senior professional.
  • Review and check work of other Client Processing Support staff and help resolve escalated issues.
  • Responsible for the quality and completion of own work.
Standard Job Responsibilities
  • Independently works with internal and external datasets and client reference data and participates in the development of statistical, financial and/or econometric models for analyzing asset performance, securities data, derivative pricing, risk exposure or other sophisticated concepts. Provides analytical project management support for assigned area.
  • With minimal guidance, supports assigned area with advanced, complex statistical and quantitative analyses. Contributes to the development of the techniques and methodologies to be used for each type of activity/analysis. Leads data modeling and quantitative analysis projects and serves as resource to less experienced colleagues.
  • Uses technology tools to conduct analyses. Applies techniques such as SQL and querying and macro development to extract data for populating models. As an advanced user, may do some light programming or system configuration in order set up sophisticated models or algorithms. Understands the relevant processes and products in assigned area and which analyses, methodologies and approaches best support assessment of performance, risk, or valuation. Begins to lead complex projects in support of new or evolving processes/products.
  • Interprets findings, prepares standard and ad-hoc reports and delivers results to management and/or other leaders. Provides recommendations for addressing observed outcomes. Translates complex technical concepts and analyses to non-technical audiences.
  • Reviews accuracy of reports and calculations performed by less experienced colleagues.
  • No direct reports. Provides guidance to more junior analysts. Primarily responsible for the accuracy and quality of own work and the work of assigned project team members. Work contributes to the achievement of area goals.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree in quantitative analysis is preferred.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of experience is preferred.
  • Experience in quantitative finance and technology is preferred.
  • Process-mindset and an interest in solving complex problems, performing reconciliations, and finding ways to make processes better.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environment.
