We're seeking a future team member for the role of Counsel - Enforcement & Litigation to join our Legal team. This role is located in Manchester or Edinburgh and is hybrid .
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- In this role, the lawyer will also conduct internal investigations and provide advice regarding, and develop strategies for dealing with, issues that involve potential reputational, regulatory and/or financial exposure to the company
- The individual will work across all our lines of business, including Asset Servicing, Treasury Services, Corporate Trust, Issuer Services, and broker/dealer and advisory services, and will be instrumental in identifying and managing legal risk in the EMEA region. This position reports directly to the EMEA Head of Enforcement, Investigations and Litigation who is based in London.
- Extensive experience in handling complex governmental and regulatory enforcement matters, civil litigation and other civil disputes
- This is a highly visible position in the region and requires frequent interaction with senior legal and business leaders in EMEA on a variety of sensitive matters
- Preferred candidates will have experience handling enforcement and civil litigation matters for, and conducting investigations in, an international financial institution and will be able to act independently and exercise sound judgment on sensitive matters, often involving stakeholders across the globe
- Candidates must have ability to work independently with little oversight, while recognizing when and how to appropriately escalate matters to management. The successful candidate will have strong written and oral presentation skills as well as the confidence and desire to proactively work on a myriad of diverse matters (often at the same time)
