BlackRock's Transition Management (TRIM) team manages more than 300 transitions a year from hubs in London, Budapest, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong across equity, fixed income and multi-asset class transitions. The transition service encompasses detailed analytics, portfolio and risk management and trading implementation to achieve tailored client objectives.

Our clients include many of the largest asset owners around the world, across central banks, sovereign wealth funds, public pension plans, corporate pension plans and other institutional investors. The group, consisting of over 50 transition professionals, offers one of the industry's most comprehensive transition management platforms. We partner with clients by understanding their objectives and designing and implementing solutions that deliver the full power of BlackRock.

Role Overview:

BlackRock is seeking a Client Strategist, with a focus on Continental European clients, to be part of a dynamic and growing team that handles large portfolios with multi-asset exposures for a diverse range of institutional investors. The individual will be responsible for sourcing transition business by partnering with clients as well as BlackRock's client coverage and product strategy teams.

Transition Management is a high trust product where clients provide a significant proportion of their assets to BlackRock and as such the team is directly accountable to the client to maintain the highest standard of care and responsiveness throughout the origination and implementation phases. An ability to embrace the BlackRock culture and to develop and build relationships with colleagues internally is also important.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with other TRIM Client Strategists to share a focus on the European Institutional client base and provide support across European Pension, Wealth and Insurance clients in respect of Transition Management Business Development
  • Working closely with internal Client facing functions to capitalise on opportunities
  • Building effective internal and external networks and relationships to further knowledge sharing
  • Gaining a deep understanding of clients' organizational objectives and dynamics
  • Capitalise on clients' desires to move to sustainable and ESG mandates and to become an SME on Pension Reform
  • Partnering with clients to find integrated solutions to sophisticated problems and help enable their business transformation
  • Maintaining client service and interaction with existing clients
  • Originating new client relationships and improving revenue
  • Creating and maintaining client engagement momentum, leading origination and repeat business generation
  • Driving new business development, managing critical initiatives to further brand awareness
  • Presenting to clients both individually and as part of a team
  • Engaging other client-facing teams and the quality platform of a leading asset manager to promote a high-quality service
  • Responding to RFPs and preparing other client materials
  • Owning and leading client pitches and ensuring they are of a high quality, including preparing required materials.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • An ability to work with energy and autonomy to develop new initiatives and engagements
  • Must be proactive, able to think strategically and tactically and have the ability to adapt to different circumstances
  • Must be able to be effective working alone and as part of a team
  • A commercial mindset with an ability to identify early-stage Transition opportunities through engagement with the wider firm
  • Track record in successfully originating new business and growing the client base
  • An ability and track record of providing a high quality of client service
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to present ideas effectively to clients, tailor communication style to the audience and promote ideas internally
  • An ability to network, to establish and maintain productive working relationships with individuals at all levels across BlackRock and clients
  • An ability to dissect sophisticated ideas and concepts into relevant and timely information for clients
  • An ability to multi-task and prioritise whilst producing high quality work in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Deep level of investment & market / trading knowledge

Relevant Experience:

  • Detailed and comprehensive understanding of the Asset Management Industry
  • Extensive experience of working with European institutional and Wealth / insurance clients
  • A track record of sales success with clients
  • A track record of relaying investment strategies and concepts to clients
  • Experience servicing clients within the investment management arena
  • Language skills highly desirable - In addition to English, German and/or Dutch and/or Italian
