Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Finance consists of finance professionals across several disciplines such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Finance Controls, Sourcing and Vendor Management ("SVM"), Finance Platform Support and Controllers. SVM is a global team, with team members primarily based in New York, Gurgaon, and Budapest. SVM aims to be an organization of trusted strategic sourcing advisors enabling BlackRock to achieve more value. The SVM team advises and supports business functions on all their supplier-related initiatives whether they involve supplier identification, evaluation, selection, negotiation, performance management or escalation management. SVM seeks to avoid certain costs, deliver tangible cost reductions, furnish reliable analytical data and insights for improved decision making, and enable a socially responsible and diverse supplier base.

Position Description:

The SVM team seeks a Supplier Governance Specialist who will help to ensure that all regulatory and internal governance requirements are met that impact the firm's third-party vendors and its associated policies and procedures. The role will require the individual to understand the current control landscape within the function and be able to identify and implement process improvements as well as futureproofing the groups procedures against any new legal or regulatory changes.

Reporting to SVM's Global Head of Supplier Governance your key duties will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing SVM processes and documentation, identifying opportunities to enhance process efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring controls are operating effectively. Carrying out monitoring and testing and ensuring any issues are appropriately identified, documented and resolved.
  • Producing reports on governance and process improvements to support decision-making.
  • Provide support on special projects that impact SVM ensuring processes, procedures are updated & work with the P2P team to ensure any system changes are appropriately implemented.
  • Organizing and delivering training to the SVM team on key regulatory or process changes.
  • Helping to build business cases for new procurement investments, such as procurement intelligence or contract management tools.
  • Responding to client or internal business requests in relation to SVM's policy, processes and procedures.
  • Keeping appraised of any upcoming changes in the industry, regulation or legislation landscape, to advise on any likely impacts to the SVM team or the wider firm.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • A strong background in procurement governance & operations, ideally with a good understanding of the current regulatory landscape.
  • Good knowledge of business controls & risk mitigation protocols.
  • Ability to concurrently manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, clients and vendors.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong control mindset.
  • Strong willingness to learn with a high-level of motivation and adaptability.
  • Initiative and confidence to identify potential process improvement opportunities and helping deliver benefit to the business.

Desirable:

  • Ideally the candidate would have 5+ years previous experience of working within a procurement function, preferably with a focus on procurement governance in a multi-national firm.
  • Experience of procurement systems such as Coupa would also be beneficial.
