About this role

Team Overview

Technology & Operations (T&O) is responsible for the firm's worldwide operations across all asset classes and geographies. The operational functions are aligned with clients, products, fund structures and our third-party provider networks.

Global Investment Operations (GIO) is responsible for the development of the firm's operating infrastructure to support BlackRock's investment businesses worldwide. GIO's Trade Operations team is responsible for the affirmation, confirmation, transmission and settlement of transactions with counterparties and custodians for Equity & Fixed Income trade activity. General functions include timely trade confirmation & settlement via dashboard exception monitoring, day to day management of broker and custody relationships, improving operational control and reporting, eliminating risk and providing support to internal stakeholders to grow the business & deliver outstanding client service, globally.

A core focus of Trade Operations is to continuously evolve operational processes by working in partnership with Investment & Trading Teams, market counterparties and vendors to deliver further scale into the transaction lifecycle, for the benefit of BlackRock and its clients.

Responsibility

  • Manage trade exceptions, prioritising workload to ensure all trades are confirmed on trade date and settle within the agreed timescales.
  • Fail Management, determination of the root cause of failing trades, take ownership of the actions required to resolve.
  • Be a risk manager: identify possible risks and raise with management and stakeholders.
  • Escalate to your manager when required on a timely basis and work to resolve these as a matter of priority.
  • Break Management, investigate the root cause of the break and determine the actions needed to resolve, working with relevant stakeholders internally & externally as required.
  • Partner with Investment teams, trading desk & other internal stakeholders, as required.
  • Data interrogation and trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities across the post-trade lifecycle & drive change to deliver improvements for workflow efficiencies, creating capacity & reducing risk.
  • Manage internal and external relationships, ensuring strong communication with our partners, monitoring & improving external stakeholder performance via service calls & other regular engagement.

Experience

Required

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in buy/sell side operations team within a large financial institution.
  • Basic computer literacy skills: ability to effectively navigate applications such as Excel, Outlook, Windows.
  • Ability to sift through data to understand what is relevant and analyse data to solve problems.
  • Organize and multi-task to execute and prioritize multiple deliverables.
  • Thorough attention to detail balanced with a "common sense" approach.
  • Communicate effectively by simplifying complex themes and tailoring messaging to your audience.
  • Collaborate in a team environment with an execution mindset.
  • Build constructive relationships with internal and external partners to achieve goals.
  • Manage time and adapt in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • The ability to multi-task, work to challenging deadlines and prioritize while staying focused on risk mitigation.

Preferred

  • Experience working in buy-side investment operations with proficiency in trade confirmations and settlements.
  • Exposure to Asset Servicing events, Income and Reorg Corporate Actions.
