About this role

Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock's Client Business (CB) serves asset owner business ( Public and Corporate pension , Financial Institutions etc ) , distribution business and third-party business. The Global Consultant Relations Team (GCR) is part of CB at BlackRock. Japan GCR team is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with Japanese clients and consultants across all asset classes as well as driving new business through RFPs and databases.

The RFP function within GCR is uniquely positioned within BlackRock and with RFPs often being the first official engagement that the client has with BlackRock, the team is at the hub of the sales process, pro-actively engaging with investments, client relations and operational teams throughout the RFP process.

As well as playing an important role in winning new business, the team also provides valuable support to maintain the existing clients and consultants through updating and refreshing DDQ and any client / consultant requests for information on our products (including data maintenance).

Working closely with both investment teams and client relationship team , the team presents an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the business and to gain a wealth of knowledge about industry and products and BlackRock.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead creating RFPs and refreshing DDQs mainly for Japanese clients
  • Contribute to continual population and development of the proposals database, tailoring and improving content on an ongoing basis.
  • Work on a wide range of products including alternatives including HF to illiquid products, equity, fixed income, multi-asset and solutions
  • Create partnerships with sales and product teams to develop a full understanding of their needs and build winning relationships
  • Support the relationship managers by engaging and owning consultant queries as required
  • Ensure processes, quality and service standards are adhered
  • Be familiar with internal systems and processes


Skills/Experience:
  • The ideal candidate will be a degree qualified individual with at least 2-5 years financial services experience ideally within the asset management industry or financial industry.
  • Excellent Teamwork mind-set and thoughtful communication skills
  • Considerate of colleagues. Ability to build internal network
  • Ability to Lead by example - high ethical standards and strong work ethic
  • Acts with integrity and with the desire to do the right thing for clients
  • Attention to detail with analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Willing to learn and an enthusiastic 'can do' attitude
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both Japanese and English ( Business Level)
  • Collaborative writing, critical reading, and editing skills
  • CMA or CFA preferred
  • Microsoft Excel / Word and PowerPoint
