Investment Oversight Group
The Investment Oversight ('IO') Group is the focal point in the EMEA region for impartial oversight, governance and supervision of our investment management platform and supervision of products. We champion alignment with BlackRock's core principles as a client fiduciary. We oversee the implementation of policy, strategy and performance, supervise the investment platform on which products are managed and report to the Boards on our governance framework and ongoing developments. We ensure the delivery, maintenance and development of appropriately constituted and managed portfolios, subject to rigor, insight and oversight in meeting with the governance expectations of the Management Company boards and regional Regulators.
Investment Oversight Associate Luxembourg
The Investment Oversight Associate will be responsible for supporting the Investment Oversight team in Luxembourg managing, co-ordinating and further developing oversight of UCITS funds and AIFMD alternatives vehicles, spanning liquid active and passive strategies as well as real estate, infrastructure, private equity, credit, hedge funds and multi-alternatives strategies.
In ensuring Truth-in-Label and Treating-Clients-Fairly fiduciary principles are maintained, the successful candidate will engage in activities including product development oversight, performance oversight and contribute to due diligence programmes conducted on BlackRock's global investors managing the funds. Working closely within the Luxembourg IO team and as part of the IO regional group, they will maintain strong partnerships and collaboration with other teams such as Portfolio Managers and Strategists, the Global Product Group, Risk & Quantitative Analysis group, L&C, Legal and Business Operations.
This role demands strong analytical capabilities as well as broad understanding of investing styles and asset classes, collective and private investment structuring models, UCITS/AIFMD governance frameworks, practical knowledge of Luxembourg regulatory supervisory expectations and related regional themes and guidance.
Core Responsibilities
- Championing our clients' interests and assisting the business to translate the highest fiduciary standards into their daily work
- Collating and assessing performance data and metrics across the range of funds; applying effective oversight and governance and generating high quality reporting on a regular basis.
- Marrying investment guidelines and Offering Document expected outcomes with fund performance, escalations and engaging with the key stakeholders to ensure client expectations are met.
- Levering access to the product lifecycle from initial concept through to launch, to guide oversight of the fund investment profile thereafter
- Supporting adjacent oversight functions and processes managed by IO with respect to the management scope of the Luxembourg entity, as envisaged under CSSF requirements and other relevant guidance as well as contributing to oversight elsewhere within the region.
- Developing ongoing specialist knowledge of Luxembourg and European regulatory frameworks, understand its application and impact funds and their governance
Experience
The ideal candidate will
- Have five years' relevant experience, for example within a leading investment manager or professional services firm, with exposure to UCITS and/or alternatives investing models;
- Possess expertise in the Luxembourg financial supervisory regime as well as EU rules and related regulations including their practical translation into internal framework and policies;
- Exhibit strong execution, partnership and relationship management skills with the ability to engage successfully with stakeholders at all levels of the business in a fiduciary governance context;
- Be a highly-motivated self-starter, able to demonstrate sound judgment, excellent technical, markets and regulatory knowledge, strong team ethic, combined with high energy, enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity and diplomacy;
- Possess relevant qualifications and experience related to risk, investment performance and attribution, investment compliance or financial markets, supported by practical experience;
- Have the ability to interpret financial data, build and maintain and develop custom reporting frameworks; High competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint and composition of high value insightful analysis; Aladdin and/or Python experience a plus;
- Be capable of clearly articulating at all levels, including portfolio managers, fund directors, external auditors, senior management; possessing effective communication and reporting capabilities;
- Possess fluent professional spoken and written English; other European languages an advantage
