The Americas Payroll Team at BlackRock is a dynamic and dedicated group of payroll professionals responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees across North and South America. As an Associate in the Americas Payroll Team, you will be responsible for coordinating the processing of the US and Canada Semi-Monthly & US Bi-Weekly payrolls within an outsourced operating model. You will be responsible for ensuring on time and accurate delivery of ~10,000 headcount US payrolls leveraging technology to create scale whilst upholding a high attention to detail for accuracy, ensuring BlackRock remains compliant with all local, state and federal requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Payroll Processing:
- Coordinate the semi-monthly & bi-weekly payroll processing for ~10,000 US and Canadian employees
- Prepare data input files for the payroll
- Review payroll for errors and verify all pay entries have been processed
- Verify Gross Payroll Reconciliation breaks and address as needed
- Review Interface errors on a daily basis
- Process time tracking semi-monthly interface
- Process check requests, wire payments, stop payments and direct deposit reversals, as needed
- Maintain weekly Manual Check, Void Check and Stale dated check logs
- Review direct deposit error reports and communicate any changes to employees
- Prepare Restricted Stock Unit, Bonus, and Stock Options T+1 Payrolls on an as needed daily basis - prior knowledge of next day deposit filings required
- Coordinate update of Visa Status changes and applicable tax statuses
- Coordinate the semi-monthly & bi-weekly payroll processing for ~10,000 US and Canadian employees
- Compliance:
- Conduct proactive and in-depth self-audits to ensure ongoing accuracy, but also identify and recommend ongoing improvements and enhancements to the way we operate
- Remain up to date with federal, state and local payroll laws and regulations making recommendations to your manager on changes that impact our operations and compliance with changes regulations and laws
- Prepare prior quarter adjustments in partnership with the US Tax Associate
- Reporting:
- Design, build and run payroll reports from Dayforce reporting system for purposes of processing payroll and providing information to internal stakeholders when required
- Collaboration:
- Address queries from various internal departments such Compensation Accounting, HR and the Benefits team
- Participate in the pre and post payroll processing reviews with vendor and ensure proper handling of issues and use of controls to mitigate risk and controls
- Manage ServiceNow employee tickets and respond to employee inquiries on a daily and regular basis
- Year End deliverables:
- Deliver upon a successful Cash Bonus and Equity Year End execution for payroll in conjunction with various other internal stakeholders
- Execute on a successful payroll year end close in conjunction with the US Payroll Tax Associate
- Work on department projects, as needed and including but not limited to
- Participate and facilitate activities related to new mergers and acquisitions that may arise where they are impacting the US & Canada payrolls
- Partner and assist colleagues and internal stakeholders related to current ongoing acquisition activities in United Kingdom, India and Australia.
Skills Required:
- 5 to 7 years of payroll experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent understanding and experience with multi-location, multi-state payroll processing and withholding taxes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with impact
- Ability to work effectively with cross functional partners and various external vendors
- Advanced analytical skills that enable the candidate to recognize and resolve immediate problems, but also critically assess the root cause with a goal of redesigning and enhancing the process to prevent the problem reoccurring
- Solid functional knowledge, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a large payroll department, preferably in the financial services industry
- Understanding of payroll processing and regulations, including Federal, state, and local specific rules
- Capable of working independently when required but also able to work within a high performing team to achieve a common goal
- Bachelor's Degree required.
Additional Skills that would enhance performance in the role:
- Knowledge of Dayforce, Workday, Service Now,
- Certified Payroll Professional preferred
- Alteryx knowledge a plus
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Strong knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
