The Group is the industry's largest third-party asset manager for insurers globally with over $700bn of assets under management, spanning over 400+ of the world's top insurance companies, and our insurance practice is a strategic focus of the firm. In APAC, c.25 dedicated FIG client coverage and Insurance Solutions specialists partner with more than 120 insurance clients across APAC to execute on their strategic priorities across investments, risk management, wealth and technology needs.

• As the Managing Director and Head of Financial Institutions Group & Strategy for Japan, the candidate will be responsible for leading a team of insurance client specialists, formulating and executing an ambitious strategy to expand and further transform our business with insurers.
• The role will work closely with the APAC Head of FIG and Japan Head of Institutional Client Business to maximize revenue.
• Develop, manage and strengthen relationships with Life Insurers, P&C Insurance Companies, Reinsurers and their affiliates globally
• Develop high quality pipelines and deliver ambitious financial outcomes by collaborating closely with product specialists to leverage BlackRock's full platform capabilities, including (i) active and passive strategies across Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-asset, (ii) Alternatives, (iii) Aladdin, and (iv) bespoke whole portfolio solutions. This involves identifying transformative organic and inorganic business opportunities and forming strategic alliances with key insurance partners.
• Partner closely with FMA Insurance Solutions to ensure that we are maximizing deployment of Insurance Solutions capabilities and resources to our largest and strategic opportunities
• In partnership with Global Product Solutions (GPS) and investment platform stakeholders, articulate and formulate a strategy to enhance BlackRock's existing product and asset class capabilities for Japan insurance industry, including targeted investment in new platform capabilities in complementary areas with growth opportunity
• Partner closely with key stakeholders including but not limited to Global FIG, Insurance Solutions, Marketing and GPS to drive campaigns and business solutions for insurers and project-manage strategic initiatives to further build up Firm's brand awareness amongst the clients and prospects
• Represent BlackRock in the industry by being involved in public speaking and organising industry events and forums
• Embed of culture of excellence in the way we serve and partner with our clients

• 20+ years of extensive financial industry experience in institutional client facing role.
• Preference for FIG banking / capital markets / actuarial / insurance asset management background, with roles involving, M&A advisory / insurance advisory / portfolio management / structuring / senior relationship management
• Strong track record of cultivating relationships with C-suites and possess appreciation of navigating complexities
• Good appreciation of the regulatory and accounting considerations for Japanese insurers conducting business locally and globally
• Experience of working for international organizations and ability to work in a multinational matrix environment preferred
• Excellent executive communication skills
• Effective team player who is accustomed in working with global, regional and local stakeholders.
• Strong experience of managing a team as a player-coach

• Language skills: Japanese/Native, English/Strong proficiency in both written and spoken business English
