Business Unit Overview
Our Private Debt strategies aim to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns to primarily institutional investors from investments in illiquid private loans to borrowers in Europe, Israel, the US and Asia-Pacific. The core business areas in Private Debt are:
- Corporate Debt: private loans to corporate borrowers, typically used for growth, capital expenditure, acquisitions and refinancing existing debt
- Infrastructure Debt: a global platform investing in energy, power, renewables, transport, social and digital assets
- Real Estate Debt: a dedicated platform investing in multifamily, industrial, hospitality, retail and office property types across various geographic regions
- The team also manages a number of multi-debt pooled funds and mandates which invest across one or more of these strategies.

The Private Debt team provides middle market companies with senior amortizing financing for acquisitions and capital growth. The role, which will encompass junior portfolio management activities, will be responsible for supporting the Portfolio Manager in different aspects of the investment process and will partner closely with the deal team, Product Strategy, Portfolio Monitoring and COO teams.
The role will report to the head of EMEA Private Debt Core Portfolio Management ("Core PM") and will entail the following:
Portfolio Management Activities
- Model portfolio optimisation scenarios and provide recommendations to PM.
- Own database on the fund's investments (consistency and integrity) and coordinate the use of data for various internal and external reporting requirements.
- Provide portfolio statistics to external providers.
- Production of weekly pipeline reports and team capacity tracker.
- Contribute content for internal reporting, white papers and thought leadership.
- Deliver Data for risk and investment oversight.
- Population of fund investor templates with loan data
- Prepare and contribute to weekly/monthly/quarterly portfolio reviews
- Maintain fund level statistics.
Portfolio Capital Management
- Management of fund level cashflows, including cashflow forecasting analysis and liquidity analysis for capital call and distribution, to optimise investors' experience.
- Manage leverage facilities: provide information to banks, respond to Q&A, manage portfolio limits, monitor borrowing base model, draft compliance certificates.
- Manage drawdowns on the facility and liaising with BlackRock capital markets on renewals.
- Manage fund level hedging exposure.
Skills, experience and education desired:
- Excellent analytical and data analysis skills, highly numerate, responsive with high attention to detail.
- 2 -5 years' experience in investment banking (leveraged finance, M&A or restructuring) or private debt / direct lending.
- Motivated team player and flexible in approach with ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - presents ideas in a clear, concise and constructive manner.
- Ability to prioritise, working to tight deadlines and flexible to meet workload.
- Keen to question, challenge and improve.
- A methodical thinker able to resolve complex issues on a daily basis.
- Strong academic background.
- Fluent in English; other European languages skills considered a plus.
