Business & Team Description: BlackRock's US Wealth Advisory business services $1T+ in client assets and is responsible for the distribution of active and index asset management products through intermediaries as well as sub advisory relationships. BlackRock is a top five 529 plan investment manager, with either investment and/or distribution responsibility for three 529 plans- the State of Maine, Ohio and Arkansas. Additionally, BLK investment products are available through more than 19 other 529 state plans. BlackRock 529 investments are distributed through all major 529 broker dealers and RIAs in the country and reach over 50k financial advisors. The US Wealth Advisory 529 Enterprise team manages BlackRock's relationships with key distributors, state agencies, investment boards, consultants, third party sub-advisors and distributors.

Role Description 529 Distribution Specialist will distribute and support all Maine & Ohio 529 conversations with financial advisors and or market teams that work with financial advisors. The individual will play a critical role in being an expert on all BlackRock distributed 529 plans and driving commercial results. This individual must be excellent at partnering within the organization as well as developing relationships with financial advisor teams.

Primary Responsibilities

• Be a subject matter expert on BlackRock distributed 529 plans and regulations / guidelines for 529 plans.

• Partner with USWA Product Marketing and Advisor Insights team to provide content ideas, consultation, and execution plans for advisor/end client facing 529 marketing materials and programs.

• Partner with the USWA Sales Team to address advisors' 529 product questions and provide subject matter expertise on more complex 529 sales opportunities.

• Develop and deliver ongoing 529 Learning & Development content for BlackRock sales teams and other functions.

• Analyze ongoing 529 sales data to identify trends and help shape impactful sales focuses and campaigns.

• Identify opportunities to integrate 529 into our USWA sales initiatives and larger firm wide purpose to create a better financial future for our clients.

• Engage home office partners to promote awareness of BlackRock 529 plans and achieve more omnibus relationships.

• Help formulate and execute on an annual growth plan for BLK distributed 529 plans.

• Partner with sales to maximize how we leverage our market pods, specialist, segmented sales and digital teams to drive 529 efforts.

• Provide training and ongoing 529 BlackRock plan and regulatory insights to USWA Sales Teams.

• Create and execute on a sales rotation plan to visit / call high potential FAs across markets.

• Generate demand for and execute on client / FA seminars in partnership with the market teams.

• Organize and drive call out campaigns promoting the 529 plans.

• Be available for and respond to all 529 related sales, service or marketing enquiries from FAs or BLK sales teams.

• Present sales updates to our state partners quarterly or as needed.

• Represent a client perspective in various internal conversations such as marketing, portfolio management, operations, and product development.

• Meet or exceed net new business targets.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of industry experience required; an experience selling and servicing financial advisors and their teams is a plus

• BA/BS degree required

• FINRA series 7, 63, and 65 (or 66) securities licenses required.

• FINRA Series 52 (MSRB) necessary and can be taken on job.

• Clean compliance record required with no prior contractual restrictions regarding distribution of investment products
