About this role

This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.

You will be involved in primary research and responsible for getting in touch with fund managers based in the Asia Pacific region to establish relationships and acquire valuable proprietary information. This information consists of investment activities and preferences, fundraising and performance. This is an outstanding research role, requiring a sales-like attitude to unlock research relationships across the region. The role includes handling data inquiries, quality assurance, data monitoring for consistency and client engagement regarding our Preqin Pro platform.

What you'll be doing:

  • Proactively communicating and building relationships with key professionals of all levels within the alternative assets industry to acquire valuable proprietary information on past, and future investment activities including historic performance
  • Holding regular face to face meetings with APAC-based fund managers to gain fundraising and performance data and working actively alongside the APAC sales team to build research relationships with fund managers and other key regional associations
  • Updating Preqin's online database with key financial information, statistics and analysis
  • Conducting tailored statistical analysis for clients
  • Collaborating closely with our teams in North America and EMEA, as well as collaborating with other departments in the company, to deliver requests and provide solutions
  • Supporting senior leaders on research projects and regional strategy regarding further data improvement and development activities
  • Contributing to research reports, blogs and publications occasionally, supplementary public/web research where vital

What you'll bring to us:

  • You have a bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant industry experience
  • You possess highly proactive and enthusiastic approach to relationship building
  • You have strong research capabilities and investigative instincts
  • You thrive in an environment dedicated to achieving set performance goals and metrics.
  • Regional knowledge of the private capital industry, and alternative assets, is desirable
  • Previous work experience focused on communication and relationship management is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Japanese and English languages is required
