Role Description
Investment Operations spans various functions including Transaction Management, Corporate Actions, Cash & Assets Reconciliations, Trading & Market Documentation and New Instrument Process. This individual would work very closely with investment and trading teams to support business and product expansion in China.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Investment and Trading teams to support the full trade lifecycle from account set up, funding, settlement, margin, collateral and reconciliation;
- Collaborate closely with counterparties and custodians to facilitate timely trade settlement and minimize potential fails;
- Handle cash and trade workflow error resolutions, including funding shortages or failed trades across products (FX, equities, bonds, derivatives);
- Ensure all corporate actions, including income events, are captured, validated, elected and processed timely across entitled funds;
- Perform daily transaction, position and balance reconciliation, ensuring all exceptions are investigated and resolved before end of day;
- Facilitate custodian/broker/counterparty onboarding, registration with PBOC for CIBM access, and related accounts opening;
- Partner with technology and business team stakeholders to design, test, and implement scalable and robust system solutions and controls.
- Handle Investment Operations queries across China onshore products from both internal and external partners;
- Call out all material risk items and service issues on a timely basis;
- Participate in project work, presenting timely delivery of relevant project tasks;
- Contribute to the operating model design process for new products onshore, including learning the local and global practice.
- Support improvements in relation to processes/procedures and controls that create capacity and scale
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
- 2+ years of proven experience within the asset management industry or a related industry, ideally with exposure to fund accounting, transfer agent, or settlement (equities, fixed income, futures and derivative instruments);
- Prepared to take the initiative, and take the lead in managing operational improvements and change.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to resolve conflicting priorities;
- Demonstrates a proactive and risk-focused approach to work, understand the importance of identifying and raising issues appropriately;
- Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment with confidence, high energy and a driven mindset;
- A proven ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships with key partners;
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal;
- AMAC fund practitioner qualification and asset management industry experience preferred;
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and prior hands-on experience with automation tools (e.g., VBA, RPA, Python, etc.) would be advantageous.
- Experience with financial technology platforms would be valuable.
- Proficient in Mandarin and English.
- Relevant recognized qualifications (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, CFA) would be an advantage.
