About this role
BlackRock's European Investment Grade Credit Research Team seeks a junior credit analyst based in London to support the senior analyst covering the European Utilities sector. Depending on the candidate's skills and capabilities, we would envision over the medium-term to long-term an individual in this role to eventually take on primary analyst responsibilities for a portion of our large European Utilities coverage universe.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the senior analyst in conducting in-depth fundamental credit research and analysis on European investment-grade companies.
- Supporting the preparation of financial models to assess company performance, capital structure, and creditworthiness.
- Monitoring market developments, industry trends, and regulatory changes impacting the Utilities sector.
- Assisting in the preparation of credit reports, presentations, and investment recommendations for senior analysts and portfolio managers.
- Gathering and analyzing financial statements, bond issuance data, and other relevant information for use in credit assessments.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to support the decision-making process, including portfolio managers and risk management teams.
- Assisting in tracking new bond issuances and secondary market trading activity within the Utilities sector.
- Maintaining databases and tracking relevant credit and market data for utility companies and sector trends.
- Learning to engage with industry experts, management teams, and external research providers to support credit analysis.
- Ensuring all work adheres to compliance and regulatory guidelines.

Experience and knowledge required:
- At least 1-2 years of experience.
- Basic understanding of financial statements, credit metrics, and bond markets, preferably with exposure to investment-grade companies.
- Knowledge of the Utilities sector is advantageous but not essential.
- A strong academic background (Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or CFA progression is a plus).
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; familiarity with data platforms like Bloomberg is beneficial.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and market trends.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to team members.
- A demonstrated interest in developing expertise in credit research and the Utilities sector.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, market conditions, and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in an additional language is advantageous.
