Make Your Mark:

  1. Drive/Lead the performance and operational aspects of a suite of applications and services from a performance, responsiveness, capacity and availability perspective.
  2. Responsible for the day to day faciliation of our DevOps practices & work as part of the team.
  3. Focus to deliver multi-release and potentially multi-year technical projects, including the strategy and implmentation. Additionally, through the course of that primary foucs they demonstrate cross product line business context and understanding.
  4. Exhibit a very high standard of technical judgement, innovation and execution to tackle open-ended problems that require difficult prioritization and tradeoffs, often defining what, how and when with precision.

  6. Take responsibility for assigned tasks, Services, Application, and BlackLine as a whole. Delivers more than the bare minimum requirements. Considers the needs and goals of internal or external customers and uses this experience to inform on delivery.
  7. Engage in strategic planning and provides input.
  8. Effectively manage time and prioritizes tasks to meet project deadlines and SLAs. Balances reactive tasks (incident response) with proactive initiatives (optimization).
  9. Effectively engage with peers to deliver projects and visions without being the primary contributor of technical execution
  10. Maintain documentation and operational knowledge base.

What You'll Bring:

Years of Experience in Related Field: 10+ years of industry experience.

Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in reliable and repeatable web application deployment and architecture.
  • Someone energized by a fast-paced, iterative approach.
  • An ability to balance the urgent needs along with long term strategy.
  • Strong ownership, pride of work, and ability to take things across the finish line.
  • Of particular interest is a specialty in one or more of the following: Multi-page web apps, API integrations, monitoring/alerting, Public Cloud infrastructure management, distributed systems, cloud networking, or application security.
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills and Root Cause Analysis, technical leadership and mentoring qualities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Manage end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
  • Lead by example, care for your team, and establish credibility with the quality of the teams' technical execution.
  • Participate in and manage on-call rotation for the SRE Team
  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Blackline's services.
  • Cross-system and full-stack architecture experience and awareness.
  • Ability to communicate well with both business owners, Executives and technical staff, at the appropriate levels.
  • Primary -
    1. Cloud knowledge (preferred - GCP)
    2. OS skills - linux (in-depth), windows
    3. IaaC - Terraform, Chef/Ansible (preferred - Chef, if not Ansible is fine)
    4. kubernetes, docker
    5. CICD - jenkins, Github Actions, Azure DevOps, Harness (preferref - jenkins, Github Actions)
    6. Scripting - Python, PowerShell, Shell
    7. Version Control - Git
  • Experience with cloud-based development and deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting whilst being equally passionate to learn/adapt to new technologies.
  • Preferred Cloud certifications like, but not limited to Hashicorp Terraform Associate+, Kubertnetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA), and Associate+ Cloud Engineer (ACE), Cloud Engineer, Cloud Architect, Cloud Developer, Cloud DevOps Engineer, New Relic Certiifed Full Stack Obervability Practitioner
  • Advanced skills in Python, Groovy and other programming languages
  • Prior C#, ASP.NET, Ruby, Go or Java development experience, preferably in an agile SaaS environment.
  • Experience with cloud computing technologies, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience in recruiting and managing a team of experienced Engineers.
  • Skill managing and prioritizing troubleshooting of enterprise services with complex interactions between applications, operating systems, network protocols, and client configurations.
  • Capable of technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and storage, yet verbally and cognitively agile enough to hold your own in a strategy discussion with leadership team.
  • Experience with software development processes and methodologies.
