Make Your Mark:
The Data Engineering Manager at BlackLine will lead a team of skilled data engineers and business intelligence developers to design, implement, and maintain scalable data architectures and customer-facing reports. This role involves overseeing data integration, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business insights and innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES ::
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of data engineers and business intelligence developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful delivery of data and reporting projects.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
- Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of both data engineering and reporting projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Data Architecture and Design:
- Design and implement scalable and robust data architectures, including data pipelines and integration with data warehouses / lakes.
- Ensure data solutions are optimized for performance, reliability, and security.
- Data Integration and ETL:
- Develop and maintain ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into the data platform.
- Ensure data quality and consistency through rigorous testing and validation procedures.
- Technology and Tools:
- Stay current with emerging data technologies and tools, evaluating their potential impact and applicability to BlackLine's data strategy.
- Implement and manage data engineering tools and cloud-based data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Data Governance and Compliance:
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to address data privacy and protection concerns.
What You'll Bring:
Qualifications :
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience in data engineering and report building, with a track record of managing and delivering complex data projects.
- 2+ years employee supervisory experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google Big Query).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres, MySQL, DynamoDB, Cassandra
- Experience with cloud-based platforms like Snowflake is preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL, including stored procedures, data models, and transactional flows.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, R or Scala.
- Experience with Pandas, Polars and PySpark.
- Experience with BI/Data analytics tools like Sisense and PowerBI is preferred.
- Able to conceptualize overall components of technological stacks and pipelines and convey such information to both technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Leadership and Communication:
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address data-related challenges.
- Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
