Make Your Mark:

The Data Engineering Manager at BlackLine will lead a team of skilled data engineers and business intelligence developers to design, implement, and maintain scalable data architectures and customer-facing reports. This role involves overseeing data integration, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business insights and innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES ::

  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers and business intelligence developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful delivery of data and reporting projects.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
  1. Project Management:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of both data engineering and reporting projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  1. Data Architecture and Design:
  • Design and implement scalable and robust data architectures, including data pipelines and integration with data warehouses / lakes.
  • Ensure data solutions are optimized for performance, reliability, and security.
  1. Data Integration and ETL:
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into the data platform.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency through rigorous testing and validation procedures.
  1. Technology and Tools:
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies and tools, evaluating their potential impact and applicability to BlackLine's data strategy.
  • Implement and manage data engineering tools and cloud-based data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  1. Data Governance and Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and best practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to address data privacy and protection concerns.

What You'll Bring:

Qualifications :

  1. Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in data engineering and report building, with a track record of managing and delivering complex data projects.
  • 2+ years employee supervisory experience.
  1. Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google Big Query).
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres, MySQL, DynamoDB, Cassandra
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms like Snowflake is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL, including stored procedures, data models, and transactional flows.
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, R or Scala.
  • Experience with Pandas, Polars and PySpark.
  • Experience with BI/Data analytics tools like Sisense and PowerBI is preferred.
  • Able to conceptualize overall components of technological stacks and pipelines and convey such information to both technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  1. Leadership and Communication:
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  1. Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address data-related challenges.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
